Ultra capacitors

Every day a new wonder invention comes up that will revolutionize the way we live. There are magazines devoted to these wonder inventions. They generally have mechanics or science in the title. Interesting reads, but few make it past the magazine pages.

And there's no shortage of pooh poolers and negativity in this category especially with people that don't even have the qualifications to comment on a particular technology. Remember driving over 20 mph was supposed to cause brain damage and flying by man was impossible.

After reading the ENTIRE article it not only looks quite promising it's already proven itself as far a durability in environments regular energy sources fail. NASA sure is interested.

I'm not saying it won't work, rather if it doesn't it won't be the first time.

I doubt NASA's that interested. Capacitors are still not batteries.

Sure they store energy but they store their energy in a electric field which allows them to charge quickly and discharge quickly which makes them a poor choice for any application that requires a constant and controlled power source

Caps discharge instantly

Batteries store their energy chemically and discharge slowly owing to the inherent latency of the chemical reaction that holds the charge

This tech is useful for a pretty specific type of application
