Repeating radio signals coming from a mystery source far beyond the Milky Way have been discovered by scientists. While one-off fast radio bursts (FRBs) have been detected in the past, this is the first time multiple signals have been detected coming from the same place in space.

FRBs are radio signals from deep space that last for just a few milliseconds. Since their discovery over a decade ago, scientists have been searching for more to try to understand their origin. At present, there are several theories as to what they could be, with most involving some cataclysmic event like a supernova or a neutron star collapsing into a black hole.

All of the events seen so far appear to have been one-offs, with subsequent observations failing to find follow-up bursts coming from the same position as the original. However, an international team of researchers has now discovered an additional 10 bursts coming from the same direction as FRB 121102, using the Arecibo radio telescope in Puerto Rico.

Holy ****! Another intelligent species? A residual effect of extreme gravity and sound waves? A hoax?

This isn't a message from your deities. It's a completely natural phenomenon.

Huh? Who said anything about deities?

Cool, I hope they find aliens!!

The OP openly wondered this might be a message from a group of deities generally called "aliens".

In case you didn't know, according to the adherents of this belief system, these deities live in the heavens, have all sorts of supernatural powers like warpdrive and what have you, and according to some versions of the belief system, they even created life on Earth.

Uhh, a hypothetical warp drive and possible panspermia don't make aliens into deities. Deity is a word with a particular meaning and you're using it wrong in some bizarre attempt to disparage the speculation that other intelligent life might exist in this vast universe. Why you think religious terms are terms of derision is beyond me. Perhaps you are under the impression that religious beliefs are inherently absurd in some way.

I know what the word means. Immensely powerful beings in the heavens that created life certainly qualify.

It's true that isn't a religion per se, because these deities aren't worshiped.
