And most of these bots will be programmed by liberals........in order to survive in the New World....one will have to be Brave! Huxley was way ahead of his time.....he just had the timeline wrong.

Over five million jobs will be lost by 2020 as a result of developments in genetics, artificial intelligence, robotics and other technological change, according to World Economic Forum research.

I'm surprised the estimate is only 5 million. Eventually eliminating menial jobs will be a good thing. But the transition will undoubtedly be painful.

You shouldn't worry about robots being programmed by liberals! Just because they are programmed by liberals doesn't make them liberal. That's not very logical. You just have to make sure that your career isn't in danger of being replaced by Robots or if it is make sure that you can easily transition. Good thing I'll probably be fixing these robots in the not too distant future, so I have nothing to worry about :)

Maybe, maybe not. The sad fact is that there a lot of stupid people out there who won't be able to adapt to jobs that require more mental effort.

Yep, there is not enough work now to pay the bills, and the situation will get much worse due to robotics and due to the fact that we are going to start massively restricting consumption because of increasing taxes as the public sector tries to manage their exploding debts, and as we cut out energy use to "save the planet".

This economic system is finished, and there will be lots of violence as it completes its crash. Perhaps the bigger problem though is that we are losing faith in technical society, which make me wonder what we would do if we moved on from giving up on science to giving up on technology.

I am not sure it is safe to draw the distinction between loosing your job to a robot,
vs loosing your job to outsourcing.
As for robots replacing people, we are already getting there, and our politicians
are paving the way by asking for higher minimum wages.
While it might be difficult for a business to justify a $50,000 kiosk to replace a $8 an hour order taker,
a $15 an hour order taker is a lot more palatable.

Robots can't lay brick, hang drywall, deliver freight, build roads, etc. etc.

Robots are good for stationary tasks like spraying cars and punching motherboards, but they are many generations away from doing anything more.

I think we are safe.

Yep. And with the obama Regime clearing 10,000 more refugees to come to the US, they will take many jobs that are here now.

Good to know as they will never have my personality, understanding and patience, when teaching people to shoot.

Well, 100 is only the AVERAGE IQ. So there are about as many people with double digit IQs as those with IQs over 100.

Do you think this trend will stop at eliminating only "menial" jobs?

No job is safe, not technical, production, professional, or service....none.

The technology is advancing at a rapid pace, and it isn't slowing down.

No I don't. As AI advances more technical jobs will be taken over as well.

Those people are more likely to be able to hold jobs that require critical thinking skills. Many people simply have to low an IQ for that kind of work was my point.

As history shows, as some jobs get eliminated, higher skilled jobs are created.

People were probably whining about the same **** when the assembly line came out and things didnt need to be hand made.
