Knowing things like black holes warp time what would happen if time was not only bent but formed in to a circle? Would time then stand still or move forward as well as backward forever?

Deja vu, all over again, eh?

The presupposes the ability to control mass to the point of distorting time *and* simultaneously controlling all of the consequences.

By very lose conclusions from various Quantum theories, all you have done is create time suspension for those presumably caught in the "time circle." It is no longer about moving forward or backward for those in the loop, it is about their relation to those outside the loop still subject to "time."

Mainly because of one consequence of the theory of relativity, when mass moves faster than the speed of light it is time itself that is the biggest consequence.

If time does not exist for those in the time circle but does for those outside the time circle, then when they exit the time circle the amount of time lost is the relative factor. If follows, when you left the time circle it would be in the future. Time did not occur for you in the time circle, but did for those you left and then came back to. Thus, suspension of time.

However, the theories of Quantum Entanglements then comes into play. In this case, and as a total guess on my part, would be position relative to when they entered the time circle. There simply is not enough theory to help us understand what the position of those who lost time, for a certain time from other's perspective would be like when joined again in the same time. For all we know, they would exit into another reality (defined as position) devoid of any ability to come back to the time (defined as reality and position) they left when entering that time circle.

The reason is how you phrased the question, time is no longer a line and we are not entirely sure it ever was a line.

Time is already circular. What shape is a clock face?

We have started over a few times since our presence on this planet began. We will do it again in the future. How much radiation, poisonous gas, or change in the earth's magnetic field will it take to wipe away our massive storage of ones and zeros? Maybe the survivors won't know computers and will use your server for a boat anchor while they fish with spears.

That has nothing to do with the topic of the thread.

OK, so the black hole will turn time into a circle and we'll all be animated GIFs.

Better?

Actually, the event horizon of a black hole is a sphere (more or less) and time is (theoretically) stopped there.

One problem is is that space and mass are quantized... It may be impossible, much like a sphere is actually impossible. Same as a circle.

I was about to say, that I don't think mass distorts things into a circle, if anything it is a sphere. It warps space and time all around it. By re-reading your question, it seems that you might be thinking that the "time circle" is an isolated system from the rest of space time. IF that were to happen, if the sphere isn't expanding, and if there is no movement within the system, the system's time would have stopped.

The laws of thermodynamics actually give us a sense of time. The various chemical reactions coupled with the transfer of heat generally create more disorder than before, which gives a sense of movement, which gives a sense of time. Other theories look at space time expanding, and as long as this is expanding you have the forward progression of time. Therefore, if this circle wasn't expanding, and if there was no movement inside the circle, there would be no time at all.
