Apple To Abandon Headphone Jack? New Leak Reveals Massive Gamble

Another point in my distaste for anything Apple.

Well, they're making an adapter for the lighting jack, so whatever. Not that it'll make a difference to me for two years anyway.

The cord will not go, there is no way my headphones could ever go cordless, they have 50mm drivers, also earphones. The one USB port will never work, ever, period. It is one one the worse tech design decisions in history.

We'll have affordable cordless headphones in a few years, but we're certainly not there yet. As it stands, tolerable cordless headphones are regularly about $170 and up, whereas earpods (which are perfectly fine if not especially immersive) are $30. Listening to cordless headphones that cost under $100 feels like one's ears are being attacked by a swarm of angry hornets.

Why? It sounds like an improvement.

Hardly. This might do for the Beats and Bose crowd, but it would send me packing.

The headphone industry far surpasses whatever nonsense Apple wishes to push through, and has for decades. Even without an amplifier, my Sennheiser HD-600s and AKG-702's utilizing the traditional jacks will beat or match the companies that try this gimmick.

I'd rather not attach a dongle each time I think my ears and mid-fi manufacturers will know better than Apple. Doing so with a portable or desktop amplifier is plenty enough, thank you.
