Of course he is right, and so neither I nor anybody else can prove otherwise, and so I guess the debate's over.
But, you know... he could've gotten into the spirit of it a bit more. He volunteered for this; it's not like anybody forced him.
On a brighter note, LeftyHenry did finally PM me back and say that yes, he did want to debate abortion tag-team style with me, but of course by the time I heard back from him it was already too late, so now he's ready, willing, and available to RD any one of you on abortion.
Have at it. | This is so transparent...I can't believe after all your build-up and criticising me for exactly what you say above here, that you volunteer to be so OBVIOUS. Truly...I guess I gave you more credit for sincerity and dignity. See...that's why I wouldn't get sucked in--I figured as much, but I secretly hoped you'd prove me wrong on it. Oh well. At least you didn't get too hysterically mocking, although the Norma McCorvey stuff bordered on it |

You're the one who wanted me to agree to a bunch of weird conditions before you'd debate me. I said no to all of them. I'm not going to agree to any conditions no matter who I'm debating, or what the topic is.
I never claimed I'd be good at reverse debate; I'd never tried it before. I wanted to try it. Now that I've tried it, I plan to do more reverse debates. I think it's fun, and hopefully I'll get better at it.
I chose the "pro-life feminist" argument because it intrigues me; prolife feminists are a group of people who claim to be "different" from other prolifers, who claim they are "pro-woman" and that they can justify banning abortion without stooping to typical, anti-woman "sex is bad, you should've kept your legs shut" rhetoric.
So I studied up on them and familiarized myself with their platform, and I tried to debate the issue using their arguments. But it turns out that their arguments are very self-limiting, and you can't get very far with them before you have to resort to other tactics, to arguments I consider "anti-woman"... in which case you'd have to start contradicting everything you just said, leaving yourself with zero credibility. What I've really learned out of this is that the two positions are pretty much logically incompatible. The "prolife feminist" rhetoric only holds up superficially... beyond that, there's no solid way to justify or defend such a position.
So, you know... live and learn.
On a more personal note, I think you give me way too much credit, and attribute all sorts of sterling characteristics to me that you have no reason to believe I possess.
You wouldn't be so perpetually disappointed in me if you'd stop attributing all these admirable characteristics to me in the first place.
This is a debate forum, and I'm here to play, learn, and entertain myself, just like everyone else.
The next RD I'm going to attempt is a Smoking Ban one with Galenrox; LeftyHenry wants to debate abortion from the pro-life side, if anyone's interested.
Maybe Jerry should debate him, since he seems to be on a winning streak.

| I probably do. I do tend to expect the best of people. I know it opens me up to disappointment, but all in all, I think it is a good trait, so forgive me if I assume you are not shallow and completely self-absorbed. |

I'll probably try a broader, more general approach next time, rather than such a specific and limited one.
That will be this coming Monday, when LeftyHenry and I will reverse-debate Jerry and some other prolifer (I don't know who yet); the topic will again be abortion, and I will again be debating from a prolife angle.
If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. That's my motto! |

So this is my confirmation post for the RD tommorow. Who is the other prolife defending pro-choice?
