And interesting counter argument to the tale of Hypatia and the Great Library

Armarium Magnum: "Agora" and Hypatia - Hollywood Strikes Again

I have been reading a lot of this guys blog posts lately and must say that for an Atheist he is refreshingly even handed in his views of history. He's more balanced than what I have seen from many historians on either side.

In this article he details his view of the story of Hypatia, made famous by Carl Sagan in COSMOS, and the sacking of the Great Library of Alexandria. He finds these stories to be more myth than reality, perpetuated without evidence by those with an axe to grind.
