I too find myself second guessing God about many things, and in my finding the second guessing of God builds my own self esteem, because clearly God is always right or righteous and I become more humble, and the bigger effect is that God does not reject us even for our second guessing.
It reminds me of times in the Bible where many of the personages really did argue and debate or even fight with God - as like Abraham successfully pressed rather hard in Genesis 18:20-33, and Jacob was actually rewarded for wrestling with God in Genesis 32:24-32, and Moses debated with God in Exodus 4:10-16, and in the New Testament the Apostle Peter was a rebel throughout, and Thomas demanded proof, and the Apostle Paul said that God spoke through him and that he Paul was speaking from the spirit of God.
The fact is that even a very stupid and or uneducated or even a retarded person can be very wise about God, as God makes His best wisdom available to all of mankind, while so many people simply reject it.
I say that people who are highly educated often have a harder time understanding or accepting god. Perhaps their visions are blinded by too many thoughts.
It also helps if we are not too distracted, too overstimulated by things happening in this world. If there's too much going on in front of our eyes, we might not see god.
Also, when I say second-guess I mean more like, when we think we know what god means. Sometimes bad things happen for a reason. But the reason is kept concealed from us. It is the glory of god to conceal things.
