Perhaps you should read it more closely? My point was neither cause nor effect, but rather explanation. That's why your post didn't make sense.
WOW!
:lamo
OK, let's read more closely...

Now, when we read this more closely what do we see? We see lizzie giving an explanation for the rampant insanity. For the neophyte to abstract reasoning this would fall under the category of a cause, that cause being the devil. You said the devil is a plausible explanation i.e. the cause, but overpopulation in a technologically advanced world of 24/7 media needing to sell advertising isn't. Inferring that the latter also too is a cause, the cause for rampant insanity. Leaving one with the impression that the previous explanation i.e. cause was rather illogical while the explanation i.e. cause that you provided was the apparently logical choice. The choice of what? The cause for the rampant insanity in the world today. That was your explanation.
Now, I ever so humbly offered a suggestion that perhaps you are confusing the effect as a cause. Meaning your explanation i.e. cause that the overpopulation in a technologically advanced world of 24/7 media needing to sell advertising was the effect from a cause. I left it up to you the reader to decide what that cause might be, though I was inferring ever so gently that the devil was the cause for the effect. Which was the overpopulated technically advanced world of 24/7 media needing to sell advertising.
Perhaps if you put as much effort into actual critical thought as you do swagger, you'd crash dive right through that glass bottomed teaspoon of self absorption.
Having co-signers marvel at your efforts remind me of the joy I had watching my 2 year old nephew splash around with his water wings in the kiddie pool...very advanced for his level, but not quite ready for Olympic time trials...
