Here is something for you. Doug Stanehope is an American comedian in Britain who often turns up in Charlie Brookers shows "Screenwipe" and "Newswipe" on the BBC. At the end of the year Charlie Brooker makes a "Year wipe" in which he sums up the events of the year. What I love about Brooker is the cynic and brutal way in which he presents his shows, similar to that Doug Stanhope is also a very agressive comedian who isnt scared of making remarks that some will find controversial.

Anyway. During the 2013 Yearwipe Doug Stanehope made a monolog on the Oklohoma tornados and I highly recomend you watch it:

I love it! I hate the notion that I have to improvise into constantly making a nice image of myself as an atheist for people who dont understand atheism,

I'm not scared of making remarks that some will find controversial either. Being scared does not motivate me. Whenever I do avoid making cynical, brutal or controversial remarks, I do it out of consideration for others.

I wouldn't call it that. To me political correctness is when you are forced to say or not say something, because it would be regarded as offensive to the majority. A politically correct person has to keep their mouth shut or use different words to avoid criticism, even if they don't truly feel that way. In other words, misleading. That's like what you are being forced to do, when as you say you are "constantly making a nice image of" yourself. That I agree, definitely sucks.

So did you post this vid clip to illuminate what atheism is? Surely not. The secularists I know are very nice and highly principled people, not juvenile asshats who make statements such as this:

"I didn't do it because I felt sympathy cause she got all her [stuff] destroyed by a tornado; I did it strictly to be a prick to her Okie Christian neighbors, hopin' they were still eatin' off FEMA trucks when someone drove up and presented Rebecca with a giant cardboard check. It's funny how hate can make you do real nice things every now and then."

What a pathetic loser. So underdeveloped.

And why the hell not!!!

Your kind of people seems to have nothing better to do than to blame all the worlds ills, from Hitler to Tsunamis to 9/11 on atheists.

And therefor nothing feels as good as throwing all that **** back in your face.

Stanhope is a libertarian.

You appear to be a very angry person. I'm sorry for that. Why would you want to throw anything at anybody?

Also sorry that you don't see how pitiable this poor man is--at his age and getting his jollies being spiteful. He's not clever or funny, just ugly and underdeveloped.

You don't know anything about me, so I'm not sure what your "your kind of people" really means. For the record, though, my kind of people-whether they are people of faith or secularists-- aren't immature, angry, hateful losers like this Stan Hopeless guy.

Oh spare that pathetic moral highground gabber for the your brainless kind.

Cynical comedians are the best comedians be it Doug Stanhope, Charliee Brooker, Frankie Boyle and others, it is the comedian who breaks the boundries of "moral custom" created by some halfwit swampeople, who is in fact amusing.

And yes, I call your kind of people are kind since they are only to be found in certain regions mostly and almoust always have the same medieval mindset.

Be it in the Southern USA or Saudi Arabia.

Glad you recognize a moral high ground when you look up. ;)

Wow interesting point. It's not fair that someone should feel this sense of blame directed at them, for what they believe. Or rather, what they do not believe.

He is right. Christians, it's not the atheists fault. Let us not blame them. Look at the history of Christianity, at our own churches, the Vatican, the history of popes. Such as the Borgias, for example. No less an abomination than anything in history. How much damage has been done, even to the modern day. We know this isn't the true message of Jesus.

There's the message, the word, and then there's the institutions we raise up in its name, and the people who use it for personal means. It's easy to get caught up in all that and no longer see the truth of what it is supposed to be.

Hell, it's enough to make me feel like an atheist, some days.

No it is'nt i'ts called not being a C##t, being considerate of others, is just being a decent person, it doesn't mean compromising Your principles or something, just not being a C##t (this is from someone that does standup comedy), btw, there is nothing "brave" in comedy about being rude or aggressive or whatever, it generally Works in standup pretty well. (He's a great comedian btw, don't get me wrong, it's just stupid that People Call it "brave," it isn't).

I love it! I hate the notion that I have to improvise into constantly making a nice image of myself as an atheist for people who dont understand atheism,

If you're naturally a douche, then just be a douche then I Guess ....

I could sense a lot of negativity here. You're angry. Did anything happen to you personally?

What do you mean blaming the world ills on atheists?

The OP is VERY Doug Stanhope. That's great that he was able to raise money to help this person. There is a bit of a side story in the news piece. In MSM news is it assumed that everyone in the the Midwest USA is very religious and CNN's ol' Wolf Blitzer was obviously trying to coax this kind of response out of the young woman. Her response, was a bit of a screw you to stereotypers in general. She does say moments later in the interview that she doesn't blame people for thanking god if they do.

Here Doug disses on another religion:

I made it to the 2:04 mark. Too dull to slog on, but (channeling my inner Church Lady) my, he's certainly impressed with himself, now isn't he? Did those 8:29 minutes, did he ever say something funny, or did he just go on with his arrested-development invective?

You missed the Catholic bashing. :)

Jew and Catholic-bashing isn't exactly fresh. ;)

There is NOTHING easier in comedy today than to bash religion ....
