The Bible and God

There is one story popular among certain Muslim mysticists that interprets Satan as fallen because of his love for God: When God created man, He ordered all his angels to bow in front of man. But Satan loved God so much that he would not bow in front of anybody or anything but God -- so he disobeyed and fell.

Interesting. Imo, Satan gets a bad rap, far beyond what may be deserved. He/it is blamed for all the ills of mankind, and if his great sin was refusal to bown down to man, because of his allegiance to God, then I'm not so sure it was deserved (I realize that is above my pay grade ). If you will take a look at some of whom we consider the great religious figures throughout history, defiance and a strong will are sometimes great assets. I have a hard time believing that God has a strong preference for the meek and mild-mannered, and I don't invision God to be so narrow in definition, that those are the only ones made in his image.

So then this noble Satan who only was banished from heaven by an ahole God because he loved him too much inspires Cain to kill his brother Abel for power and gain and wreaks havoc on the earth.

I realize I may be in the minority among the religious, but I honestly don't believe that "Satan" inspires people. I believe that people are naturally violent in some respects, and good in others, and the choice to be made is in how we will express our nature.
