Why are the majority of Muslims so quiet?
What will it take for them to rise up and speak out?

Where's the condemnation from non-violent Muslims towards those minority elements that are acting out so violently?

Is it just that the media won't tell that story?

I find it frustrating that we're not seeing a response calling for reason, tolerance, and peace.

Where are those voices?

in turkey ,we usually condemn such terrorist and islamist attacks .

and we call them islamists ,not muslim..

I've seen far more media coverage of Muslims denouncing the violence than I have coverage of the violence itself.

That doesn't make good press. And when it is reported people have selective memory. Take Libya for example. After the attack on the consulate there were numerous demonstrations throughout Libya condemning the attack.

Are these reports being aired in USofA?

I'm not seeing such things.
Can you post links to media that shows "Islamists" condemning the violence?

islamist doesnt condemn that!

I think it'll take a whole lot more of the non-violent getting murdered in terrorist attacks to get them to actually do something about them.

Iraq is a good example.

This is America, Dragonfly. There are voices, but the US media's primary concern is anti-americanism. While I find it discerning, there's really no reason to believe that the US would air Muslims speaking out about topics that could challenge the populace's mindset that their country is in the right. :2wave:

Someone said that before ,My responce was:
Just google:Muslims Condemn Terrorist Attacks But you rely on media like foxnews and wait it to do so, another issue is that there is no church, priest in islam so there is no pope/religious authorities that speaks for God so u won't watch: Islamic largest authority says so and so, just mere sheikhs that speak only for themselves !
Renowned Islamic scholars reacted to a movie that insulted Holy Prophet Muhammad and the ensuing attacks on embassies by issuing a joint statement.

In a statement released on Friday, the An Nusra Al Alamiya organization led by Yusuf al-Qaradawi made a call for prudence. With its headquarters in Kuwait, An Nusra Al Alamiya pointed out that the movie targeting Holy Prophet Muhammad was provocative and all ensuing attacks on U.S. embassies should end.

"Reactions against the insult directed at Holy Prophet Muhammad were legal and were things desired. This is a necessity of our faith. Defending the Holy Prophet Muhammad is a desirable Islamic behaviour. However, a Muslim must act based on the Islamic law and directives issued by the Holy Prophet Muhammad. We should not be acting in opposition to our Prophet Muhammad while thinking that we are defending him," the statement underlined.
"The Muslims must control their anger. We need to focus on our aim. We need to stop the insult to our Prophet Muhammad immediately and punish those responsible for the insult. In connection with such an aim, we must stay away from acts that incite such insults, lead to the spread of such insults and protecting those making insults after they try to justify the insults based on freedom of expression," the statement noted.

"Insults on values have no aim other than causing unrest. Replying to such provocations with violence is doing what those troublemakers want," the statement underlined.

"The duty of the Muslims is not merely to respond to the insults directed against Prophet Muhammad. Holy Prophet Muhammad's life, his high moral values and permanent message must be carried to the whole world. All means must be utilized to introduce Muhammad in the most accurate manner. Organizing international symposiums on Muhammad may be beneficial," the statement stressed.

"The violent attacks on U.S. embassies are not within the boundaries of Islam. According to Islamic rules and moral values, we need to be loyal to agreements. Ambassadors, tradesmen or other contracted individuals entering a country can not be harmed. Holy Prophet Muhammad has forbidden the killing of ambassadors," the statement also said.

Qaradawi moved to Qatar from his native country of Egypt under former President Hosni Mubarak after being jailed several times. He is considered a spiritual leader of the Muslim Brotherhood.

I would guess it's because a large majority of them live among the violent ones, and would prefer the option to keep living vs. being a martyr.

Because the cameras don't focus on them. I was very vocal about it when I was Muslim, but nobody wanted to hear it. They just wanted to cling to their belief that all Muslims are hateful, murderous savages. It's really ****ing frustrating.

I'm no longer a Muslim, and guess what? I didn't receive any death threats, no suicide bombings occurred, and I didn't even lose friends over it.

If someone was willing to base their world view on America based on how it was depicted in our media, they would believe that the nation was filled with nothing but celebrities who alternate between sex scandals and school shootings. Its absurdly ignorant to whine about the lack of response from the Muslim world if you are too lazy to even bother to look. The media peddles fear and shock to grab eyeballs, it isn't even close to accurately depicting what is really going on.

From what I can gather, they are quiet because they are afraid not to be. What it will take for them to rise up and speak out, is to find it within themselves to question authority, but that will be quite difficult, as their religion pretty much demands subservience of them, and the radical clerics reinforce it with cruelty.
