A question for Christians: do other sects of Christianity burn in hell?

This was just something I was wondering. Do Catholics believe that Protestants will burn in hell? Vice versa? Do mainstream Christians believe that Mormons burn in hell? Do Baptists believe that Methodists burn in hell?

You get the point. Do members of other sects still burn in hell? Discuss.

When one understands where time exists all the time, then those understanding that know now is Eternal Hell created by humanity to scare humans into denying being human.

It's part of the free will thing.

We haven't the capacity to be perfect so free will means nothing. We can't choose to be sin less. So God created us to fail then tortures for failure. Seems silly.

Jewish?....Muslim?....Pagan?.....Inquiring minds want to know.

In other words, as a Christian...are those of a faith that do not accept Jesus as Savior going to your Gods Hell.

According to my religion, the only way to get to heaven is through Christ, yes. I don't know of any other Christian denomination that doesn't believe that.

I've heard a lot of protestants down here(don't know what it's like everywhere else) say that Catholics will. I don't believe that.

I had a rather "provincial" young lady that worked for me at one time. She was quite alarmed when she found out I was Catholic. I asked her why and she said "Because you worship the devil."

She wasn't aware that Catholics were Christians.

No, he created us capable of failing. There is a difference. To be born capable of sin does not mean that you MUST sin.

It's the 'Lake of Fire' - no, Catholics and Episcopalians don't dwell on that-- it's more symbolic for a lost soul tormented by guilt and shame.

I can't speak to the other sects you mentioned. The Born-Agains love to describe that Lake of Fire in detail, when they're trying to rope you in.

Evangelicals have taken all the 'Lake of Fire' imagery and based their whole marketing and fund-raising strategy on it. "We're the only one with the right answer." Kind of like Fox News.

Actually according to the bible all humans are incapable if being sin less.

Dwell on it no, but we believe it exists.

You believe in a literal lake of fire that was created just to punish those who don't believe in God?

I don't know that it is literally a lake of fire...perhaps that is symbolism, but I believe hell exists.

It does? Where?

Romans 3:23 New International Version (NIV) 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

There are more examples as well.

That speaks of born Jews and Gentiles, it doesn't say we are born with sin.

" 21 But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. 22 This righteousness is given through faith in[h] Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25 God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— 26 he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus."

Sins did not go unpunished beforehand.

It is clear all humans sin and are incapable of perfection.

It's funny watching Christians bicker about what the Bible says and then each one pretending like they actually know the true interpretation and everyone who disagrees with them is wrong. Especially since that certainty is based on little more than the particular congregation one belongs to and intuition. It's almost like watching a bunch of little kids arguing about the rules to a game that they invented and each one trying to pretend that they know better than anyone else how the game should be played.

Incapable of perfection, sure. Incapable of not sinning, I don't think so...That is not the same thing as being capable of sin.

Ya see, this is why I'm not part of any Abrahamic religion.

If I'm Christian, then 1.4 billion Muslims will burn in hell.
But I'f I'm Muslim, then 2.0 Christians will burn in hell.

But if I'm niether, then no one's gonna burn in hell! :D

Right, because multiple schools of thought only exist in religion.

If Hell is a place of permanent torture I don't know why reasonably anyone who does a temporary sin would be punished indefinitely for it. Doesn't appear just or righteous.

Or perhaps God speaks to us all differently. That "through Jesus" as we Christians understand it can be accomplished in a manner described in another way for other people.

That makes no sense. If you don't sin you are perfect which is not possible. So all sin.

What is a temporary sin? Besides, Christians believe one can seek and attain forgiveness for their sins.
