Sure. When you are debating a scientific principal or any other point for that matter from do you look for information from others that you deem more qualified and trust worthy than yourself that have done the research? Do you buy books from recognized authorities in whatever field and study their research to verify your own opinions/world view? You may not directly quote whatever source you use nor may you even fully understand what they are saying or know what methods they used to arrive at their conclusions but still you are relying on their research to form your own conclusions and present your own arguments. Thus you are using their authority to support your views etc. Every time you post a link to an article or study this is appealing to somebody else’s authority

Okay that is fine but at some point 2+2=4 Is that also an appeal to authority?

As an Anglo-Catholic I have a lot of respect for the living tradition of the church and so don't base everything in scripture.

Thank you wessex. That is more than enough info to build a foundation for more research of my own:2wave:

At one time in your life it was. You were not born knowing this. You learned it from another source.

I knew I had more apples than before.
