Nativity Scene/Atheist Sign Controversy

The athiests are being disrespectful assholes for the sake of attention whoring.

I'm inclined to agree with the reverend.

I think it's cute how offended by someone believing their religion is a myth the Christians get, when conversely their belief is that we are filthy sinners who deserve to rot in Hell eternally for our beliefs.

Who should be more offended, really?

why can't we all just get along?

The atheists are not being any more of a dick as the people who want the nativity scene there as well as the Christmas tree.

Personally, I don't give two ****s. It ain't federal property.

That would make too much sense.

I suppose you're right.

but I like to hold christians to a higher standard of behavior seeing as how they're supposed to be loving their neighbors as themselves, and atheists don't have to.

But atheists still should.

As long as we aren't letting emotion or hatred for the opposing side translate into anything physical (which is easy since we are on the internet) and as long as we maintain a logic coherencey and relavence, then I don't mind heated debate or argument. In fact I think we are getting along. But there is no reason to hold back and be sensitive. We offend each other here so we don't have to do it to people we know personally.

I hate emoticons

;)

oh lighten up!

Thank your God! Though we disagree a lot, I knew you were smarter than that :)

BTW, my view on that is simple: I may be completely wrong about God's existence. I live my life in a manner that I perceive to be good. I treat others with respect and dignity until they prove they deserve to be treated otherwise. If there is God, I hope that's good enough for him. If I'm sent to hell, at least I'll be with the thinkers and analytical types :rofl

If some atheist want to do that. Fine, I don't have a problem. I just think its stupid. Christmas, in itself, is a secular holiday, so they are just trying to find something to complain about.

you know the puritans didn't even celebrate christmas. a lot of other christian sects don't either.

I like the trees, got one at target for 29.99 last night, 7 ft. usually I like them taller but there's the ceiling to be thought of.

like you, I don't much care if atheists want to celebrate christmas or protest it, as long as they don't interfere with MY christmas.

and I could care less about what some capitol puts up about it. I don't need a capitol building to tell me which of my holidays are legitimate and which aren't.

[sarcasm]So secular that even the Jews, Hindus and Muslims celebrate it![/sarcasm]
