Do you feel your Religion has been negatively influenced by religion?

I had to look up what Swanson said, but not from your propaganda. That's easy enough for a child to figure out, where's the confusion?

The videos do not show the whole speech or the whole conference, obviously, but then, they wouldn't, that's too much like fair journalism. This is not rocket science.

So you did not watch the video but, you know what Pastor Swanson said. What a joke. I posted what he said at the "God hates gays and we should round them up and execute them" conference.

You lie. The anti-SSM movement is to preserve sacramental marriage. They have stated that from day one.

It is also to deny to gay couples the rights and benefits that heterosexual couples receive under law. You are the one who is spewing falsehood and misrepresentation.

For the same reason you want to put your nose in my voting booth?

No one is putting their nose in your voting booth. Hopefully you have rational for why you vote as you do. The reason people are interested in this rational is because how you vote affects them.

What is your rational for wanting to know what people do in the privacy of their own bedroom ? How does what they do in the bedroom affect you ?

Nice try at a false dichotomy ;)

I guess you missed the boat then, because by your own definition I am free to believe as I will, and that's none of your business. Pull the log out of your own eye

As I stated earlier. You can believe what ever you like. If you do not like alcohol ... don't drink.

There is a difference between you not liking alcohol and forcing others not to drink.

If you believe you have the right to force your beliefs on others through physical violence .. you can have that belief too. Just admit it.

Still spouting the same defeated and refuted talking points? Get out of here, you're wasting my time.

LOL you have not refuted anything. You were caught spouting nonsense. First saying you did not watch the link provided and then making false claims about what was said in the link.

If you believe you have the right to force your beliefs on others through physical violence .. you are welcome to that belief. Just admit it.

You have been reduced to not even being able to own up to your own beliefs. :)

I didn't say anything about what was said in the link, I went and found the content of the actual speech, which is not what either the link or you say it is.

And if you think the laws are oppressive now, just wait until next year.

I didn't sa

You have been trounced so bad you can not even manage to stammer out a complete 4 word sentence.

You have been arguing all along for those that want to force their religious beliefs on others through physical violence. Now you can not even own up to your own position ...

..That you believe you have the right to force your personal beliefs on others through physical violence (Law).

Content that you somehow managed not to post nor link to. Pastor K Swanson promotes hate against gays. He says that the Bible calls for their death and we should accept this.

Your claim that there are no Christians that promote hate against gays is demonstrably false.

I agree that Trump will continue to violate the principles on which this nation was founded by making laws that are outside the legitimate purview of Gov't.

This does not change the fact that you support forcing religious beliefs on others through physical violence.

Unbelievable.

Believe it. It is not just a few Christians that want to force their religious beliefs on others through physical violence (Law) .... it is many.

The whole purpose of the "religious right" banding together and getting political was so they could force their religious beliefs on others through law.

What is unfortunate is that you support this movement.

You should have found the content yourself instead of trolling the forum with half truths (read: lies).

I gave you "the content" I provided you a video of Pastor Swanson speaking and a link to the transcript.

You claim that you did not watch the video but then claim Swanson did not say what he said based on some transcript that you claim to have found. You neither post this "content" nor give a link.

Then you claim that I am a liar for not going on some wild goose chase looking for content that does not exist.

There is a big lie going on here... that much is for sure. You lying to yourself.

You can not handle the fact that you have been called out on your support for forcing religious beliefs on others through physical violence.

If you can not admit this fact to yourself .. who is the lair ?

I told you, I am not following links or reading transcripts from hacks like Rachel Maddow. You can find out what Swanson said on his Wikipedia page, which is generally fair. If Swanson had said what you are claiming there would have been no way Huckabee and company would have sat still for it, and if you really knew the Bible you would know what Swanson was referring to. I wouldn't have said it but Swanson is a Calvinist and they tend to be hell fire and brimstone. Don't blame Swanson for your ignorance. And don't blame me for exposing you as just another shrieking hack.

If you have any more problems with Swanson, just pretend you're looking in a mirror, you sound just like him.

I just recently had a conversation with a friend and I noticed something. He was not really feeling like a Christian anymore. The more we talked about why, the more his reasoning shifted from a "lack of belief" or a "lack of feeling spiritual," and more towards being upset with the involvement in things like condemnation of gays and so on. And he is hardly alone.

A lot of people are feeling "alienated" by the "church." The more I got to thinking about this, the more I feel like many churches have gotten too much involved with politics. And I think this has turned members away. Personally I think the church should go hands off with politics, and my specific reasoning is that the most corrupting and violent thing a human can be involved in IS politics.

So what do you think as a religious person? Does politics corrupt religion?

Yes, politics absolutely corrupt religion. That is actually the basis for Separation of Church and State. Not to protect the Government from the Church, but to protect the Church from the Government. Thomas Jefferson actually got the idea from a radical protestant immigrant minister named Roger Williams, who argued that forced religion stinks in the nostrils or something like that. People needed to be free believe as they believed, or it was a disservice to the Lord. Was the idea. At the time I don't think anyone was at all worried about extreme religious views poisoning the government. The founding fathers were mainly Deists, but their morals were still in line with christian values at the time.

Disclaimer# I was raised very religious, but turned to atheism once adults couldn't force me to pay lip service anymore.

You do not have to read any transcripts nor listen to anything Maddow says. The video in the link is Pastor Swanson speaking - promoting hate against Gays.

I do not need to read Swanson's Wikipedia page to hear what he said. The Video is Swanson speaking. Not only did Huckabee and Cruz attend the "God hates gays and they should be executed" conference. Cruz even spoke.

You should read your own sources though so you do not continue this willful ignorance "He (Swanson) has defended the Uganda Anti-Homosexuality Act, which made homosexuality punishable by life in prison or execution"

I know the Bible. Swanson is referring to Levitical law which says that Gays should be killed. The only one who is ignorant is you ! as you do not want to listen to what Swanson said at the "God hates gays and they should be executed" conference.

You wish I sounded like Swanson. Then I would be like you ! You are the one who has been supporting forcing one's religious beliefs on others through physical violence ... just like the good Pastor K Swanson.

You can't even get the name of the conference right, why should I take you seriously?

And by the way, Uganda is not part of the United States. But I happen to know something about Uganda, we have missionaries there. Why don't go over there and tell them what you told me. Let me know how it works out. I guess you forgot about the "judge not" thing you were screaming the other day. Yet you want to compel these people to conform with your world view by force while you bitch at me.

I thought separation of church and state was implemented so as to protect liberty from the combination of religious and political power.

Oh my my ... apologies are in order. Rather than "kill the gays conference" I should have called it the "Religious liberties - kill the gays conference" because you can not figure out what I was referring to.

I never said anything about compelling people in Uganda Mr. Straw man.

Holy carp ... so you actually agree with the killing of gays. WOW, that is messed up.

That you would think K Swanson gets a pass on condoning killing of gays in Uganda "because they are not Americans" is really sick.

At the end of days you are going to have some things to answer for ...

You are insane.

You are insane.

There is nothing insane about calling a spade a spade.

If you think killing someone for wanting to love who they love is sane then we disagree on the definition of sanity.

What is absurd is thinking that Jesus would agree with this blood-lust. Talk about "wolf in sheep's clothing"

At the end of days, when Jesus says "what part of -

"Love they Neighbor",
"let ye who is without sin case the first stone",
"Treat others as you would be treated,
"Judge not lest you, be judged" .... did you not understand"

What will you say ?

At the end of days, when Jesus says "what part of - "Judge not lest you, be judged" .... did you not understand"

The irony is so thick you can cut it with a knife.

I agree. Wanting to kill people for choosing to love who God made them to love ... and then calling oneself a follower of Jesus is ironic indeed.
