This is pretty much a straight yes or no poll.

U.N.'s World Health Organization Eyeing Global Tax on Banking, Internet Activity - International News | News of the World | Middle East News | Europe News - FOXNews.com
By George Russell

The World Health Organization (WHO) is considering a plan to ask governments to impose a global consumer tax on such things as Internet activity or everyday financial transactions like paying bills online.

Such a scheme could raise "tens of billions of dollars" on behalf of the United Nations' public health arm from a broad base of consumers, which would then be used to transfer drug-making research, development and manufacturing capabilities, among other things, to the developing world.

What the hell is that all about?

I'm lost on all sorts of levels - money grubbers.

No.

Especially not the two examples given.

I would rather die.

No. The UN provides me no benefits, so I'm not paying taxes to it.

Who would it go to? God? :rofl

I don't even like the U.N.

No.

I'm not a citizen of the world.

Any and all people now on record or in the future calling themselves such should have as much of their property confiscated as necessary to ensure they're economic status is not greater than the mean income of all the peoples of the world, though.

That sounds fair.

No. If an international organization wants money, they should ask for it from individual governments and other sources. It should be up to those governments to decide how they get their money.

As usual, no vote.
Maybe this is necessary, maybe its not.
I do not know.
Does anyone ?

Why do conservatives hate taxes so ?
Better question..
Why are they so narrow minded and miserly?
I am trying to be nice and not nasty - which is far easier.
Does Ebenezer Scrooge come to mind??

Doesn't matter. A lot of people don't get benefits for the taxes they pay. They are forced to pay for someone else, with government as a conduit.

I think Libs should have to pay it... at least once they should know what it's like to be a tax target.

Enjoy... and we'll add more for you in the future.

.

It's not. There is no maybe about it. The United States has its own laws and taxes. We don't need people from other countries telling us what to do with OUR money.

What are you babbling about? I'm a citizen of the United States of America. My family and friends and countrymen reside in the USA. My loyalty is to MY country and MY Constitution, both of which are stained with the blood sacrifice of my forefathers. I am not part of a global community, and neither are you, as there is no such thing; it's just a silly abstraction which was made up by Hollywood cry-babies and simpering main-streamers.

I have no meaningful connection to people in Saudi Arabia or France or Germany, so there's no reason for me or my country to submit to their collective authority or taxation.

The power to tax is the power to destroy.

People that remain ignorant of history are doomed to repeat it. Why don't UN lovers learn history?

Better question..
Why are they so narrow minded and miserly?

They're not.

Better question:

Why do socialists preach love and peace and goodness, then spend all their time trying to steal money they didn't earn?

Because they're flippin' hypocrites, is why.

I am trying to be nice and not nasty - which is far easier.
Does Ebenezer Scrooge come to mind??

Sure.

Ebeneezer Scrooge was paying market wages to his employees. Explain why he should pay more without imposing your arbitrary moral standards on his actions.

NO! The World is corrupt. The Un is corrupt. The UN charter is dictatorial and takes away individual rights. So, until I see a governing document that is as well written to protect the rights of individuals from government corruption as our own Constitution does, I will not support any World Government; unless other countries wish to become member states of the US.

Unfortunately you are paying taxes towards the upkeep and continued operations of the UN, we all are.

But as you so correctly pointed out we get no benefit from the UN.

More neo-liberal grabs for power. This kind of thing is inevitable. I don't support it. NO is my emphatic answer.

If there is a global tax - the U.S. should be exempt. We already give billions of dollars of our money so that dozens of countries can have a few of the benefits they take for granted.

No. There are too many issues. First of all the UN is dysfunctional in terms of making policy, so any tax at this point would end up being absurd and ineffective.

Second, the UN has no real authority over any nation other than what is defined by treaties and what not, so there is no legal mechanism for this.

Third, there is too much division between the nations on how they want to do things. I mean we can't even get a baseline on human rights and democracy for the rest of the world, and citizens in some regions like the middle east probably don't even want it. So until we can get some common global understanding about what I believe are societal basics, the UN will never be able to do its job well.

HELL NO !!!!!!!

Do not let ANYBODY sacrifice America's sovereignty for such claptrap.

Should there be a global tax?

YES!

Perhaps no global, but a Western Civilized World Tax with the United States exempt.

WHY?

Because we defend and spend to defend the western world.

Canada, all of Old Europe should tax their citizens and send the money... in tens of billions to the USA annually.
