Health Insurance Companies Seek Big Rate Increases for 2016

Insurance companies want more money? Holy Cow, what a shocker!

They wrote the law, and this plays right into their plans. Barack, the Insurer-in-Chief.

Damn, who could have seen that coming? Allow them to merge and mandate coverage and then act shocked when they increase rates. I mean hell, cable companies never did that did they??? :doh

Are you kidding me? I can't imagine why they would want more money.

Are you earning enough such that you are eligible for subsidies for the purchase of your healthcare insurance?

If Healthcare wasn't " affordable " back in 2009 to the point where we needed a Law to make it " affordable ", how is it MORE " affordable " now that rates have gone up ?

Because healthcare included the costs that everyone was paying to help cover the costs of those individuals who could not afford health insurance, but still needed healthcare. The law helped to ensure that insurance plans were affordable (partially through subsidies and partially through spreading the risk further).

This law has helped (although it is probably not the primary cause) to keep healthcare inflation at the lowest levels in 50 years.

Healthcare was ten times better for 95 percent of the population before this trash was elected.

Lol !!

That's NOT what was sold to the American people.

ObamaCare wasn't about slowing down Healthcare " inflation " . Thats just a ridiculous attempt to mitigate the effects of whats become one of the most destructive pieces of legislation ever written

ObamaCare was simply a huge bait and switch perpetuated on the American people by the Democrat Party.

And what's worse is there is no recourse for the consumer. If a private insurance company had done what the Democrats did they would be at the center of a FTC investigation.

But Fenton, it's all part and parcel of the grand Obama & Democrats 'bait and switch', don't cha know.

Why are you surprised? There were skeptics alplenty all warning everyone from the bill's first inception / writing.

Indeed it was. A bait and switch fraud inflicted on the 'stupid American voter', that all the rest of us who were rightly suspicions and skeptical are also now saddled with. No telling how much more economic damage ObamaCare is going to cause.

You realize that the only individuals with whom the private citizens are interacting under Obamacare (unless they are getting subsidies) are Private insurance companies, right? And because of this law, those insurance companies are now subjecting to additional requirements that make them more transparent, more competitive, provide more coverage and subjected to cost constraints.

The law was never proposed or discussed as a way to send healthcare spending in a negative direction, only to "reduce cost." If the cost of healthcare spending was going to go up by 5% and this law helped to ensure that increase was only 3%, then the law has reduced cost.
