Apple’s iPhone 6 unveiling isn’t expected until next Tuesday, but there’s already people lining up outside the flagship New York City store. That might sound insane, but the first couple were paid $1,250 by two others to secure the top spots weeks in advance. CNBC reports that at least one person has made around $7,000 waiting in line previously, a process that has clearly transformed from enthusiasm into a business for some.

It's not something normal people will do. Insanity. The new Occupy crowd. No jobs, no life, plenty of money for toys, probably living on handouts or trust funds...what is happening with us???

Nothing good, that's for sure.

Seems that we have Apple extremists in our midst? On the other hand, $7K for less than a weeks work is good. Pity the fool(s) who are paying it. Must be instant gratification addicts or something.

Anyone paying substantial money or time to stand outside a store when Apple is going to be able to satisfy demand for its phone is a fool. I don't feel sorry for them.

These aren't Mac Pros, folks.

Re: iPhone 6 madness

I seriously wonder if these really aren't just inside publicity stunts by Apple to generate buzz.

I love this. Consumerism and consumption at its finest. Shine on Apple!

It's similar to what they've done to pop music with technology, by auto-tuning the voices of a lot of singers, current hits. Sounds like crap and is a result of no talent faddish behavior.

People walk around with their faces buried in their phones because they're obsessed (addicted) to them. It's a mental distraction from how lousy real life is becoming, as a result of a material driven society.

No, sometimes Apple consumers really do go above and beyond the call of duty. Most Apple consumers are not like this, but there is a substantial number (compared to most other technology companies) that are almost devotees. Fanboyism is present in any technology company's consumer base, but with Apple there's a corporate spiritualism or mysticism attached to it.

Wow - hadn't thought of that. You may be on to something.

I believe this is definitely part of their marketing strategy.
Food corporations actually do studies to find the exact amount of sugar, fat and other chemicals that'll create the perfect brain buzz.

They only need to get a handful of plants to get the feeding frenzy going.

Re: iPhone 6 madness

Wonder if there'll be any casualties like when people line up for new Jordans?

What's obnoxious is that because of these fanboys, you'll have certain fanboys of other products basically just declare anyone who likes apple products as being akin to these type of people

That would not surprise me in the slightest. The sad part is that it probably works and all the fanbois and gals will be all over the new toy like flies on a big pile of crap.

Re: iPhone 6 madness

And they still have to wait another week... idiots.
