Delaware becomes latest state to take up gay marriage <-- clicky

(Reuters) - Delaware on Thursday became the latest U.S. state to take action to extend marriage rights to gay and lesbian couples, as Governor Jack Markell announced a bill to legalize same-sex marriage.

Markell, a Democrat, said in a telephone interview that while he was confident the bill would pass, given that his party controls both the upper and lower chambers of the legislature, "nothing is sure until it's done."

"What we know is same-sex couples want to get married for the same reason that other couples want to get married," Markell said in a telephone interview.

My stupid state - the one that brought you Joe Biden, and more recently, Christine O'Donnell..... might get something right for a change.

Not holding breath, but fingers are crossed.

I'd prefer Delaware make this decision before the Supreme Court get's off their buttocks and makes a decision.

So there's no confusion - the "right thing" is allowing gay people in Delaware to marry.

A current poll on our local newspaper's website has those in favor of gay marriage winning by 58% to 40% (not sure where the other 2% is).
That's out of 1082 votes so far.
