    Do America "take idols"?

God said tho thall not take idols, or something of that sorts..

Is America a society that is based on taking idol? I mean, the president in America is a typical example of a person who is there as an idol rather than a sane figure. In my opinion no society should have any single leader/dictator. Americans love single people with much power, and its all about the person, nothing about what the person stands for.

America seems to love taking idol, most politics is about idol in American, and not politics. Its the same with the political parties, taken as idol rather than actual politics. Its a fight between idolts, flags if you want.

And yes, last the American flag, the biggest American idol, waved around as if nationalism is good.

Point is, does America "take idols"?

    He sure did!

Is America a society that is based on taking idol?
Of course. There is even a popular TV show, "American Idol".

I mean, the president in America is a typical example of a person who is there as an idol rather than a sane figure.
    Definately not sane, right?

In my opinion no society should have any single leader/dictator.
I agree. Having a president or prime minister is basically the same as having a dictator, as indicated by your most well-placed hash.

Americans love single people with much power, and its all about the person, nothing about what the person stands for.
As long as the person has or can get power, Americans worship blindly. The person could be a mass-murdering genicodal madman (like Bush, am I right?) and Americans would still do anything they say, including 911. Money is like mind control in the US.

America seems to love taking idol, most politics is about idol in American, and not politics.
There are no politics in America. Just dictatorship and money worship. You know this.

Its the same with the political parties, taken as idol rather than actual politics. Its a fight between idolts, flags if you want.
True. There are no political parties in the US. They are all the same with different mascots.

And yes, last the American flag, the biggest American idol, waved around as if nationalism is good.
Flag = nationalism. Everyone knows this.

Point is, does America "take idols"?
Take idols? America is of by and for idols.

    Great Satan.

    Thanks!

    Re: Do America "take idols"?

    Reminds me of a joke.

A bloke is shopping at a bazaar in Turkey when he comes across a small statue of a beautiful woman, upon purchasing that statue it talks to him, saying "I'm nor really a statue, I was trapped in this form by an evil witch, to release me all you have to do is have sex with me" after thinking about it for a while, the bloke says, "I won't, but my cousin might, he's a idle ****ing bastard.

But if we look at the text:
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God
It's not worshipped in place of God.

Oh please. Everyone knows the verse outlaws symbolic language. That's clear.

    And math, that's symbolic too.

I just want to note that the

    "Of, By and FOr Idols"

should be read in a Rev. Wright voice.

    Again, thanks.

    Re: Do America "take idols"?

There are Americans who mistakenly idolize people, but it is in a different sense than the Bible warns against. Some people also make the mistake worshipping other people like the Liberals who nearly swoon over Obama, but that comes from brainwashing and is not as widespread as reading the posts here might suggest.

Some people go way too far.

As a Nation we have symbols we look too as representing what we as a Nation stand for, but we don't worship them. Some examples are the Flag, the Constitution, the Bald Eagle.

BTW it's the 2nd Commandment: You shall not make for yourself any carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

It has been written in many was and one is that "you will make no idol."

Asking as a serious question, do any Christians here count the crucifix as idolatry?

They allow math and other symbols. They don't worship the cross.

But I bet you could find a type or a few types that are anti-cross. Perhaps witnesses?

I checked, witnesses are anti-cross but I'm not sure if it has to do with idoltry, seems translation of scripture.

Why don't you look up the correct quote before initiating a thread to bash America?
"He who does not think himself worth saving from poverty and ignorance by his own efforts, will hardly be thought worth the efforts of anybody else." -- Frederick Douglass, Self-Made Men (1872)
"Fly-over" country voted, and The Donald is now POTUS.
