this is supposed to bother me?

I would care if it does or doesn't? Just pointing out your position/opinion is the liberal/progressive version of the racists who wouldn't vote for Obama in 2008 because of his name. Well done! :2wave:

I honestly don't know enough about Jeb to give a reasoned and sound vote for him.

I like Ryan, a lot, and think he'd be a great candidate one of these days. That said, in general I like my Presidents to have Executiive experience and without that and with only experience in the House I think I'd prefer him to get a bit more seasoning.

Therefore, I'd have to go with Christie. From what I've seen I like his politics, it seems he's actually getting results which is always helpful, and he's got executive experience.

but not much - he's been governor for... 2 years? let him win reelection in his own state and we'll see.

I’m still looking for the ‘none of the above’ choice.

It was between Christie and Ryan, but I chose Ryan. I'm not interested in another Bush.

Same. I need to do some actual research, but his is the name that's the most well-known to me.

My only real concern has nothing to do with politics. I worry about his health, due to weight. And as twice the woman I used to be, I got no room to talk. But our president does need to be in good health. It's an incredibly high-stress job.

Actually, I worry about his inexperience.

He's just got into position as the governor of New Jersey, and, as far as I know, he doesn't have any experience on the federal level. I would actually support him once he gets more experience. Part of me is hoping that after his stint as governor that he's either elected to Congress or he gets appointed to a federal executive department to get more experience on the federal level. Then he'd be a tough candidate for the Democrats to beat.

Jeb bush, but Capt Courtesy has a point to vote for Pig Piggy to get him out of jersey

It's amazing how far out some of this stuff plays, isn't it.

uh....hate it break it to you Ockham....but it wasn't his "name" that caused the racists not to vote for Obama......just sayin.

In 1946 Richard Nixon was first voted into the House of Representatives. In 1950 he was elected to the Senate. In 1952 and 1956 he was elected as Vice President on the Republican ticket with Dwight D. Eisenhower as President. This set him up as the natural successor as the Republican candidate for President in 1960.

He lost to John F. Kennedy. He tried to make a comeback in the 1962 election for the California governorship. However, he had little interest in it and he was criticized for the possibility of treating it as a stepping stone to the White House. He lost. He then said that he was leaving politics for good.

He ran for the Presidency in 1968 and won. He was elected to a second term in 1972.

You're right - it certainly does.

I voted for Jeb three times during his run for Governor of Florida. He is the only Republican governor of Florida, which became a state in 1845, to have served two full four-year terms. I would vote for Christie if Bush was not a candidate.

Say these are your options. Barb, shoosh. Say for whatever reason? These are your options. Which would you vote for. I'm not going to put a "none of the above." If you can't pick one then in THIS election, you're not voting. No write-ins, either.

This was an easy vote for me. I chose Paul Ryan.

i know this is awful, but for me, the name says it all. no freaking way should another bush be elected. i'm not sure ryan could carry even his state. so if i HAD to vote, it would be christie.

I agree about the Bush name. I've heard enough Bush bashing to last a lifetime (though it continues on). Let's not add another to the mix.
I keep hearing things about Christy (That he is not a conservative like we've been led to believe) I don't care enough to go looking to see if any of it is true.

I think Jeb Bush is by far the best Bush politician. Unfortunately, due to his relatives' legacies, I don't think the 2012 election cycle provides enough separation for him to stand on his merit.

The "best" of a horrible lot...is still not good. This country cannot afford another Bush.

I'd vote for Jeb because it would be the first time in American history that a Father and two sons would become president.

Yes, that's a joke. Yet it was said that it would be only the second time for a Father and son to become president when W was running. Shallow Hal comes to mind.

Very similar to Obama - he was unknown, inexperienced and he basically started running for President as soon as he hit Capitol Hill. Were you worried about Barack's inexperience in 2007-2008?

Well, and/but according to you, Ockham; it was a justifiable concern. Right?

Is this like selecting between death by fire, drowning or being eaten by a cage filled with rabid wolverines?

Yes I was.
