No. To insinuate the Fox is "the other side" is disingenuous.

Fox isn't even a real news station. They openly support Republican candidates, down to organizing rallies for them, pumping them on their shows, and even having people cross from Fox to politics. Even the most liberal of the liberal newcasters and commentators would be fired for doing that at any other news station. Olbermann was put on suspension just for privately donating to a DNC candidate without getting it cleared (as I think it should be). Can you imagine how fast he'd have been fired if he had put together a rally for them? It's not like anyone didn't know Olbermann was liberal. But it is still not consistent with journalistic ethics.

Fox is perfectly willing to lie or just not have done the research, and then have the Fox censor fix it for them in transcript, and they do on a regular basis. They don't even care about lying. They care about looking right.

There are better, more honest conservative commentators on other stations I can watch or read for perspective on the other side. Fox just really isn't a news station.

    .

They actually sued in court and won in court so they can lie.

I am not exactly a liberal, but I do agree with liberals on some issues. I did watch Fox news briefly after Bin Laden was killed, and was a little confused about why they thought, even after Obama's speech, that we had actually killed him with a bomb the prior week, and Obama had been hiding this from everyone out of some implied motive for deception.

To get the other side, I typically read books or articles written by people with whom I know I will initially disagree. I put myself in my "logician's mindset" by banishing emotion and considering the claims made as rationally as possible. I have learned a lot by doing so.

I watch fox and CNN, I avoid MSBNC entirely its a clownshow in my opinion. I also watch the mainstream media CBS, ABC again not NBC.
In my view you have to get news from other sources than use your brain to determine what you believe and what your for.
Too many people base everything on 40 minutes of foxnews a day or 40 minutes of MSNBC because they have no other time to pay attention

The other side of what the media thinks is a political position? If that's the case, then maybe. But to see conservative ideas, I doubt it.

For one thing, it's usually about finding what Fox News thinks, rather than conservatives of any brand think. Second of all, Fox News is fairly ill-equipped to give a good primer on conservatism, much like MSNBC is pretty poor at presenting liberal ideas. 24 hour stations are mostly circuses disguised as discussing "the big issues of the day." Nightly news programs of traditional formats are better in that they aren't circuses, but are just as detrimental in that it's mostly fluff coverage meant to make it seem like hard, tough-nosed journalism.

“Do liberals watch fox to get the other side of the story?”

The choices are “Hells yeah!” or “Are you [friggin'] kidding me??” What do either those two options mean? Nothing to this liberal.

Where's the “I don't waste my time watching fake news and lyin' opinion programs” option?

All this poll shows is how weak another conservative's grasp of reality is.

Maybe some do maybe some don't. Maybe they just watch it once a week, or once a month... There's no way to tell.

Fox News is VERY useful for learning what's coming out of the conservative propaganda firehose.

The full array of conservative talking points and manufactured perspectives can be seen by tuning in for a couple hours once a week or so.

I also tune in when something happens that requires modification of the "messaging". Its fun to watch them scramble to adapt and try to guess how they're going to spin it.

Just sharpening up the filters for the upcoming Citizens United election. Gonna be a propaganda blizzard folks. Equip your minds appropriately!

    This right here.

This is why I don't watch Fox News. It's mostly propaganda that panders to the conservative base.

Now that's not an indictment on conservative thought or expression. I actually really like getting exposed to that. It's just that Fox News isn't an accurate view of it.

Which is one reason why I come to this forum. If I want to know what conservatives think I find out from them directly. I think that's a more accurate source of what they think than getting it second-hand from pundits paid to keep an audience to sell commercials.
Also, we need to legalize recreational drugs and prostitution.
