There is only one channel that leans right and that is Fox. If a conservative watches any television he probably watches Fox. He will aslso disagree with liberals. That doesn't mean you can make the connection that they disagree with liberals because they watch Fox.
When liberals want to change the subject, using Fox or Limbaugh, is a way to do it. It works almost every time.

I have to wonder, why is it assumed that if someone has issue with left of center views it is automatically assumed that they are Fox News viewers (or in general terms listen to some sort of right-wing media)?

There are times when it is appropriate. People who regurgitate the latest Beck talking point day in and day out(we do have a few here who do so), then it is appropriate. Outside of that, it's just being stupid, and who cares what stupid people think?

Not at all. I'm largely conservative, and I don't watch Fox News. I visit their website sometimes, but it isn't my only news source. My conservatism existed before there WAS a Fox News, indeed before there was a Rush Limbaugh.

Im with you on this one...I watch foxnews and I watch other sources. People that rely soley on foxnews or Msnbc arent getting the whole truth and nothing but the truth in my opinion.
Before any cablenews existed, the liberals had total control of the viewing media and most of the print media.

Is it correct to assume that people that disagree with liberals watch Fox News? No.

    • Of course. Nobody would think that way if not for right wing media.
This answer includes causality, the only one here that does. I think people that find Fox News right on come pre-aligned with Fox News. Very few unaligned people become aligned to the right by Fox News.

    • Most of them certainly doThis answer will get an emotional response from some on the left. But, nothing about causality.

    • Perhaps, it’s impossible to tell A non-committal answer.

    • It can be assumed that most of them can think for themselves
Most people can’t critically consider anything. The ones that can are distributed left, right and center. It’s not the thinking about issues; it’s more the basic philosophy of a person that establishes a bias when considering an issue. And those that set that bias aside are rare.

Quite true. We used to scalp liberals back then, just to teach 'em a lesson. "So, you support the redistribution of buffalo hides do you? Well, this'll teach you!"

Personally I don't watch/listen to any particular news station. When I hear about a subject I will look it up on the internet and get my info from various sites. Rarely taking into account who it is that is presenting the information. Since I visit multiple sites for that info I eventually make up my mind as to what to believe or not believe.

IE I study the subject. I don't take one persons word on it. Ironically I find forums like the DP here to be full of more info than any one particular news site and I will get both sides of the arguement much more consistantly.
I have an answer for everything...you may not like the answer or it may not satisfy your curiosity..but it will still be an answer. ~ Kal'Stang

I've been accused of it a few times.
It's kind of amusing because I haven't watched Fox News in over 9 years, if I remember correctly, it's been a while.
