The fact that he has this reputation wouldn't be an issue in a French court, but will obviously play a major role in a US court where that kind of thing is judged by different standards.

I'm not willing to state an opinion on his guilt one way or the other. I don't have the facts. There is something a little whiffy about the timing of this however, just a month or two before the Presidential race gets under way.

The past accusations seem to involve rape, not simply being a randy old codger

No one has accused him of rape. This case isn't about rape, but sexual assault and attempted rape; serious, but not as serious as rape. In the previous 2 cases, neither of the 'victims' sought to press charges and could be considered over-enthusiastic seduction. So, that is what French public opinion is getting aerated about, treating him as if he were guilty, and guilty of a more serious offence than that with which he has been charged.

What I read about those incidents were that they were similar in nature to the attack on the maid. And that they were not reported due to fears of possible repercussions and political interests

He's innocent until proven guilty. Based on his actions thus far I think he may be guilty, but we can't know until a verdict is pronounced.

Only the 'victims' can explain why they didn't file complaints. If the offences were serious, they had a duty to other potential victims to do so. The fact that they didn't says something.

You seem to have avoided conceding that he hasn't been charged with rape. Do you accept that he isn't charged with rape?

Well, according to what I read there were numerous reasons. One the mother talked the victim out of it, because of political interests, and others had concern about the repercussions, possibly having their name dragged through the media

Yes, how horrible for me to besmirch his character when it's only an accusation of him forcing someone to suck his dick

These were not 'powerless' room maids, but media insiders, who knew what they were dealing with and decided their own positions.

    what is that?
I said, "The fact that they didn't say something says a lot". I have no idea why what I said didn't appear verbatim. I'm quite fastidious about checking my posts.

Well, I certainly haven't played down the seriousness of the charges against him (please refer to all my previous posts), but I merely drew attention to the difference between the charges of assault and attempted rape and those of actual rape. In most jurisdictions they are quite distinct accusations.

DiAnna's got him down as a randy, horn-dog, Alfons and Chappy have already got him behind bars and 5 people voted him guilty in the poll. Hands up, how many people knew anything about him other than that he was head of the IMF, before any of this happened?
He IS a randy horn-dog. So is Sarkosky, which is why I referred to them both as "Two randy French horn dogs..." Cripes, have you read their history as described even in the European newspapers? Their reputations as first-class skirt chasers is legendary. Besides, in that post I said I wouldn't put it past S-K to have done it, and I wouldn't put it past Sarkosky to have framed the guy. I voted "I dunno."

Read my posts more thoroughly, friend.

    Ah, okay. I apologise DiAnna.

My point was more that being a randy horn-dog does not automatically make you more likely to commit attempted rape. He may be guilty or innocent, but being a skirt-chaser, obnoxious though such activity can be, is not evidence of anything.
