Personally, I don't know, but it doesn't look good. What is more telling is the knee-jerk reaction in his defense by many in the Continent...

And not the knee-jerk rush to assume him guilty by many in the States?

What is amusing is how many of these misogynistic knuckle draggers fancy themselves to be liberals.

Which has been vigorously denied by the woman's lawyer and the organization that owns the property itself. It's just the beginning of a smear campaign against the woman that will continue until the trial is over... and probably beyond.

I don't know all that many who assume him to be guilty, but there certainly seems enough there for a trial...

Absolutely. I just wonder whether such a trial will uncover everything that is behind this episode. As for people not rushing to judge him guilty, have you been reading this thread? DiAnna's got him down as a randy, horn-dog, Alfons and Chappy have already got him behind bars and 5 people voted him guilty in the poll. Hands up, how many people knew anything about him other than that he was head of the IMF, before any of this happened?

I've no idea what that means. Are you saying DSK has a record of political dirty tricks campaigns? Any evidence for that?

5 out of 25 who voted in an unscientific poll hardly is evidence that people are rushing to hang the guy.

Actually, I did know who he was, but perhaps as an American of French descent who does follow what happened back in the motherland, I am perhaps a bit of an exception. I have been reading the French language press about this and he certainly does have a history of issues with women, which certainly does not look good for him and thus is very understandable that people believe him to be guilty. I also believe there is a high probability that he is guilty, but I believe in the court system and that he has a right to his day in court, so I will wait until that occurs. I am VERY disappointed, but not at all surprised, at the smear campaign against the accuser that has already begun...

There's a fairly big difference between being a ladies man and being a rapist. Being a bit of a lothario is practically a requirement to be French president. Every single one for the past 40 years has been a skirt-chaser. The fact that he has this reputation wouldn't be an issue in a French court, but will obviously play a major role in a US court where that kind of thing is judged by different standards.

I'm not willing to state an opinion on his guilt one way or the other. I don't have the facts. There is something a little whiffy about the timing of this however, just a month or two before the Presidential race gets under way.
