Assult and Rape, does it justify deadly force?

If assault and rape can be proven is deadily force:

And he has a point when it comes to "crying wolf". How about the Duke lacrosse players? A tired point, sure, but it still holds. It was completely unacceptable for a person to exploit the seriousness of rape for personal gain or whatever reason she had to lie. And as a culture, we immediately assumed the Duke students were guilty. The media firestorm and public outrage were directed at people innocent of the crime they were accused of.

In the big picture, the seriousness of a rape accusation endows the claimer with a large amount of power. Exploiting the inherently tricky concept of "consent" in order to falsely charge someone with rape is abhorrent.

Yes, of course it is. But these situations get a lot of media hype, and it certainly doesn't represent the majority of rape cases. Basically, it sounded as if he was saying that date rape victims are slutty. I wasn't aware he was giving an example of what other people are thinking.
 
The majority of rapes do not occur. Women simply get angry and cry rape.

It's ideas like that which make it hard for a woman to get the proper aid immediately following a rape. The evidence goes away quickly, and most women can't get an audience, especially if the accused rapist is somebody she knows.

I can't imagine going through something so traumatic, and people claiming that I was to blame. Tragic.

The prevalent attitude that rape is about guys being so enslaved to their sex drives that when they see a provocatively-dressed woman, they become so crazy with horny they have to rape her.

Rape is about the psychological preoccupation with power over another person. Not sex.

And, yes Centrist77, I would agree that he's a troll lookin' to rile people up.

He sounds horrible, but if I were to interpret the statement in the best possible way, I would say that it means: there are horrible men out there that will rape you if you dress that way. Knowing that, watch it!

You don't have to agree that it's okay for these men to do it, to say they exist.

Also, in legal terms, you have the right to use deadly force to defend yourself against serious bodily harm. Rape qualifies as serious bodily harm, by any definition. That's really all there is to it.

Exactly. Which is why elderly and incapacitated women have been raped. It has nothing to do with needing sex.
 
Well lets say im being raped right now and i can fight back i would definatly fight back and try to bash whoever is dishing out the rapings ****ing head in, but in the court of law i believe that they should not be exectued for it if that is what you mean..

As a man, I resent the implication that I have so little self control, if I see a scantily clad women, I won't be able to stop myself from raping her. Seriously, that's insulting.
 
well, to be fair; attractive women do put eye-magnets in their bra's and pants. thats why when you are - let's just say as a hypothetical situation - out with your wife whom you love, you do very much i swear, and some amazon walks by, it's not your fault; its' the eye magnets. :D
