    Obamacare Waivers

Well, given that we are now finding out that ole Kathy Sebellius has been hip-deep in passing out Obamacare waivers to administration friends.... and that an amazing 20% of them appear to have been issued to businesses in NANCY PELOSI's district.... I have to ask - what's the correct answer? Should the current administration (whoever it is) have the right to reward friendly businesses with get-me-out-of-Obamacare-free passes? Should we have special waivers for those who are highly connected but no one else?

OR, are Democratic Leaders here in the wrong, and no one should be allowed to get a waiver from the laws of the land?

OR, are Democratic Leaders here in the wrong because everyone who wants to should be allowed to opt out of Obamacare, and stay with their current system?

Why of course you should be able to reward those who reward you, and not for others. Thats capitalism. If you rewarded everybody it would be socialism, and you hate socialism don't you? So no harm, no foul. The rest of the clowns stay in the OB plan.

This. I'm not inherently opposed to giving business enough time to comply, but unless there are some special circumstances that makes it impossible for them to get their **** in order by the publicly-stated deadline they shouldn't be given any extension. I'm not sure what the situation is with these businesses, and if they needed an extension for some legitimate reason, or if it's just politics.

    I can't. This is important.

Favors are part of politics, so to call it corrupt is a misnomer. I thought the republicans were going to end OB care, so why put more people on it, and then turn around and put it back where it was? Just a costly move for corporations.

    Re: Obamacare Waivers

The waverers (is that a word?) are going to be quite surprised when their health care costs double or triple. I suppose some think that the insurance companies are going to be willing to receive half of what they used to receive. I'm thinking that they just might pass the costs on to the customers. The cost increase for insurance in a smaller pool is going to go up drastically for companies that request a waiver.

So you get your waiver. Then 1/2 of your employees (or more) decide that it's better to have your own insurance than it is to lose it when you get laid off.
If this happens all over the country, prices for non-Obamacare are going to skyrocket.

In addition to businesses, all states who want exemption from the mandate should be granted such.

These waivers are approved for an overwhleming majority of everyone who applied for them. To say that they are only going to those that are connected is silly. As for complainin that some get to bypass the law, these waivers were written in to the law so that businesses and health insurance companies that need more time to comply could get some extra time. That's a good thing. This is just conservatives complaining for the purpose of complaining.

Lets just say that you were in Sebellius's shoes. The law was passed. You can't stop it from being implemented so you have to factor out any distaste for the bill that you might have. If there are businesses coming o you and applying for waivers that are part of the bill anyways, and they are saying that if they don't get this one year waiver they would have a hard time switching everything over or finding a new plan would you rather destabilize some businesses or would you just give them a waiver which was written in to this bill just for this reason?

    Re: Obamacare Waivers

I looked at the waver list. These are examples of what I found:
    Applicant and Number of Enrollees
    24 Hour Fitness 1,758
    Bowman Sheet Metal Heating & Air-conditioning 4
    Discovery Benefits* 3,739
    Heritage Christian Services 4,662
    MVP 21,548
    Teamsters Union Local # 35 1,109
    Excellus Health Plan 18,860
    PepsiCo, Inc. 301
American Heritage Life Insurance Company 69,945
    Noodles & Company 159

Itís nothing like cpwill is claiming. For the whole list, not a faux list, go to Helping Americans Keep the Coverage They Have and Promoting Transparency | HHS.gov

What is interesting is that PepsiCo, Inc. and Noodles & Company have 460 employees total that they are exempting. Do you have a guess as to why so few employees of such large corporations applied and are to be exempted? I do.
