When it comes to death you don't need to be a scientist to observe that when someone's body and brain stop working their consciousness does too. There isn't anything to guess about.

I was wondering why so many people said they wanted to be reincarnated if they can't remember their previous lives. Seems like its just a fancy way of dying.

Re: What do you prefer after death?

I want to be reincarnated until my soul recognizes its soul mate and our souls spend eternity together (wherever is fine, since I believe only truly hateful/evil souls go to hell). I don't even mind if I were reincarnated without any actual memories of past lives, but I believe that our souls retain some wisdom (best word I can think of to describe it) from our previous lives.

I could be completely wrong, and any of the things mentioned in the poll could be what happens to me, but I just don't think most people would go to hell and I can't imagine what heaven would be like (some descriptions do sound completely boring). If I'm just eternally dead, then I won't care because my consciousness is completely gone anyway.

Perhaps you are trying to be poetic but if you aren't then what you wrote doesn't make any sense to me. What are "you" without your memories?

If I were to strip you of your body and all your memories, what would be left that we could identify as "you"?

I don't see a soul as just a bunch of memories but an impression of life and learning. It is hard to explain. I believe each person's soul is unique but they don't need explicit memories in order to be the way they are, just experiences throughout lifetimes. Each lifetime a soul lives through leads to a maturation of that soul and shapes that soul in a certain way.

So you believe that minds/consciousness/"souls" can exist without the brain and body. I'm curious as to why you believe this is true.
