you're worried about spinal tap becoming irrelevant?

I had a "when I was your age" moment the other day and I'm only 25. My friend's daughter (7) had a Nintendo DS and was taking photos with it and editting them on the spot. I said to her, "When I was your age we had a film camera that we had to load and crank and then we had to wait until we'd used all the film to print the pictures, which we couldn't make changes to" and she goes "what is film?"

I explained to my daughter what life was like before cable AND what MTV was like when they played music just yesterday.

I remember life before computers. That's ancient. The biggest change since fire. Bigger than TV or cars. Maybe bigger than electricity itself. Politically, it could compare to the agricultural revolution ~15k ago (idle sustenance is possible); we lived in the dark ages.

Spinal Tap is no Python. Half the people here probably havn't a clue.

It's crazy...I remember when the internet became widely available...and I also remember when it was a pay-to-play system with very little to do and very few people to interact with. And I know kids know at 4 who are saying things like, "go google it, mommy" and looking up videos on youtube.

****, it's a drag because neither MTV2 or MTV Jamz plays music anymore. I have to go to MTV.com for my fix.
Nobody who wins a war indulges in a bifurcated definition of victory. War is a political act; victory and defeat have meaning only in political terms. A country incapable of achieving its political objectives at an acceptable cost is losing the war, regardless of battlefield events.

Bifurcating victory (e.g. winning militarily, losing politically) is a useful salve for defeated armies. The "stab in the back" narrative helped take the sting out of failure for German generals after WWI and their American counterparts after Vietnam.

All the same, it's nonsense. To paraphrase Vince Lombardi, show me a political loser, and I'll show you a loser.

I played Zork and Ultima II.

I used a BBS (and a 1m hard drive) for MPGs. We had to have a modem for each player online.

Is there any reason to believe that aliens from a different dimension don't steal your consciousness when you die?

Is there any reason to believe that unicorns don't spirit your "soul" into an enchanted forest?

Given that there is no evidence to believe these ideas are true besides appealing to imagination and holy-book tales then which is the most reasonable position to take, if any? Why?

When it comes to death you don't need to be a scientist to observe that when someone's body and brain stop working their consciousness does too. There isn't anything to guess about.
If you believe in the Supernatural then you can become a millionaire!

Questioning or criticizing another's core beliefs is inadvertently perceived as offensive and rude.
