Is it good idea, if USA will posses an own Foreign Legion like France it does? It is well-known that there are a big lot of excellent unemployed soldiers in former East Block who could fight for American interest worldwide. Please say your opinion about.

Only if you aren't the one teaching them English.

They can join the US Military if they qualify and become citizens through the process.

.

I think even non-citizens can join the United States military provided they are in the country legally. However, they are prohibited from holding certain leadership positions. I'm not sure what the advantages are to having a separate "legion" for foreign nationals.

To avoid American casualties. Not saying I agree but that's the purpose of the FFL, to have foreigners die in risky military operations instead of French citizens.

I wouldn't be opposed to it

Doesn't the FFL take convicted criminals and other trouble makers? Don't need them representing the United States thanks.

There are already 100,000 "contractors" in Iraq, what does America need with another mercenary army?

bad idea to become dependent upon others for your defense. foreigners and mercenaries should be used only in aggressive, forward leaning policy options.

not that I have a problem with that. if we want to create safe zones (say) in Sudan for refugees to flee too, in Somalia for people to come get food without facing the warlords, or enable an anti-slavery unit to operate in central africa; but don't want to put our own people in harms' way, I see no issue contracting that job out to those whom the body politic cares less about.

Yes, that's true. My understanding is that, after 5 year in the FFL someone can get a French passport, but I don't know if that's the same thing as making them citizens.

Guys,

the Word need a strong America, otherwise it will be havoc and destruction, maybe a WWIII or something else. It is better if many unemployed East European soldiers fight for the U.S. instead for Qaddafi or other morons in the Third World. And the U.S. gummnit will have fewer problems to sent the troops.
