Domestic Drilling

Additional domestic drilling will reduce oil prices

that's going to be a truism of any system. make the rules apply equally to both sides, and then let them figure it out. you want to get business out of government? get government out of business. you bastards are already slashing your corporate tax rate; and you rate higher on the economic freedom index. don't think we aren't on to your' little "become a good place to do business" scheme.
 
I find it funny how countries have to whore themselves out to investors.

Not to mention our lower cost of doing business due to universal health care being covered by personal income taxes and not corporations bottom lines

Did I say that? No. Countries are whoring themselves through subsides + lower tax rates. Tells you were the real power is. We won't tax you for 3 years, please come to our country we'll suck... get it.

The US is not awesome but a cesspool of corruption from a fascist socialist government seeking to enslave all americans into being obedient workers for their corporate masters (who serve the Socialist state)

As for drilling everywhere I agree.

They should start with hand held drills searching for gold in peoples teeth ( gold is valuable right now and can buy a lot of oil. Each and every american should go to the BP drilling center for immediate exploration

Corps should pay taxes since they benefits from the protections the government provides them as well as trade agreements. But the combinations of Tax cuts + subsides is the problem you twit.

why drill our own when we have a perfectly good military that can just take others? we spent all that money on the dang thing, let's let the military earn some of that money back.

well i agree that subsidies should go - all corporate welfare should. that's why I'm glad that the 2012 Republican Budget strips all such measures out of the tax code effective immediately.

Any thought that there might be a new source of oil real or perceived causes the speculation folks to react, and they know they can make money at lower prices by volume sales than if they are cut out all together.

So drill baby drill and get rid of Obama because he is doing whar ever he can to drive prices up as he said he would.

In all seriousness

Oil markets are time dependant, the spot market is not generally effected by events that will take place years in the future, longer term futures contracts can be effected by the probability of new oil sources coming on stream during the time frame of the futures contract. Opening up Anwar to drilling would have zero impact on oil prices in the short term, as no oil from Anwar would make it to market in the short term. Supply and demand is the issue here and the supply from anwar would not meet the current demand.

Nothing Obama does right now other then sell oil from the SR will cause oil prices to drop over the next 6 months ( correction, other then purposely tanking the economy). 6 months is at the extreme short range. Opening up Anwar would take a good year to two years before any real amounts of oil reached the market, increased coastal drilling the same.

A point to Randel and Cat, the high level of oil production reached during the first year or so of the Obama admin had nothing to do with Obama policies but were due to time lages from decisions made before the Obama admin started

If you want to effect current prices right now, the only thing the US government could do is sell oil from the strategic reserve or even at least threaten to ( if it is speculator driven price increases rather then true market demand)

For another of the ill-informed group here at the forum - peak oil means the end of cheap oil, not the end of oil, when demand surpasses supply. This happened in the US in 1971, the last year we could produce as much oil domestically as we consumed.

I was not claiming that Obama increased production. Most of the sources I've read attribute the increased production in Obama's term to technological improvements in drilling tecniques and equipment, and even with the increased domestic oil production prices continue to increase as the world demand for oil has increased much greater than our production.
