With the talk of elections and future presidential candidates we are likely to not have a candidate that represents our views 100%. When it comes to voting, which issue is the most important to you?

National debt and spending, taxation and the economy, as one big all encompassing, interrelated package.

I voted "redistributing wealth". Not because I want it redistributed, but because I think there's too much of a focus on that right now.

Its actually a very good question but its VERY VERY hard to answer. At least it is for me, all those issues matter to me and Im not sure I could ever pick one. Then the decision would be a combination of how far the candidate was from my own opinions and if it impacts what I view America to be about.

Foreign policy (wars, financial aid, etc)
Aid can be given but sparingly, rationally and logically.
We should always TRY to be friend first and War is ugly and im not a fan of it BUT you go to war 100% or dont go at all. I have no problem blowing up what ever NEEDS blowing up if its for the better of and safety of the US even if it means striking first.

National debt and spending
very important and needs more streamlined, controlled and transparent.

Same sex marriage

If I candidate is for it GREAT thats in the spirit of America, if a candidate is neutral thats fine too, if a candidate was against it, thats fine also

BUT if a candidate was against it and wanted to outlaw it then they would never get my vote because they dont understand America.
Abortion
See answer above

Energy (oil, green energy, etc)

Very important, we should cut back our demand from others no matter the path, more effeciency tech, use our own supply more or alternative (LOGICAL AND EFFICIENT) fuels/energy

Healthcare
Healthcare took a step forward, lets continue that, refine it and clean it up.
any "repealer" will not get voted for because that is counter productive and a waste of time

Global warming/the environment

important, we should ALL care about the environment and if we can protected it we should but im not a green freak, just be smart and punish those who are purposely reckless.

Taxation
important, tax breaks for rich and corporations dont work but people should not be insanely punished because of success. Im sure a middle system could work, everybody able pays taxes and corporations and rich pay more (money wise) obviously

The economy
important, needs to grow some more but at the same time people need to wake up from the "fat cat syndrome" and reduce their own spending on nonsense, im VERY guilty of this myself.

Redistributing wealth

??? in what way? like many of these things this is very subjective but this one the most in my opinion.

For me it's the economy. Once Americans are back to work and the GDP is beginning to recoup, then I will begin to give the others equal importance.

Largely I agree with Centrist77. I would prefer a candidate for same sex marriage over one against it however. And the redistributing wealth one was silly.

In any way. All of the above can be taken any way whether you're a liberal who feels passionately about that issue or a conservative. With redistributing wealth it can be that you find it very important that the government take more from the rich and give to the poor, or that you are strongly against taking any action (or even taking from and poor and giving to the rich). I'm not so much asking about ideology as much as I am curious about which issues people find to be the most important to them.

well since its so general Im guessing my answer would get defined in other areas.
Definitely not against it, its needed, its the only way to work but i wouldnt want it abused either.

But like i said that is my stance for most things, middle ground, reasonable and responsible not abused in one direction or another.

So i guess id be against anybody that didnt want redistribution and also against anybody that wanted everyone to be financially equal.

Education for me. I think it'll slowly but surely fix many of our problems if we can create a more educated society.

Foreign policy (wars, financial aid, etc)

Very important. Lets get out of Iraq for good. Lets leave Afghanistan, and lets stop supporting so many regimes especially Israel, we have better stuff we can spend this money on.

National debt and spending
This is also a big deal...

Same sex marriage
Big deal.

Abortion
Big deal.

Energy (oil, green energy, etc)
Huge deal.

Healthcare
Huge deal we are getting closer to a better system of healthcare. Come on at least a public option!

Global warming/the enviornment

Huge deal as well. Green jobs people.

Taxation
Huge deal. End Bush tax cuts. Progressive system of taxation. And strike down corporations that skip out on taxes.

The economy
Huge deal

Redistributing wealth
Is this like a ewww redistributing wealth is bad?

Right now, I don't think any other issue equals the importance of the deficit and excessive spending. We're cutting our own throats and we have to stop... or we're going to be well and truly screwed.

Yeah, I have lots of other issues I'm passionate about. Right now, though, I'd accept a candidate who was less-than-ideal on most of my other issues as long as getting our deficit spending under control was his signature issue.

National Debt and Government Spending

........if its not your primary concern yet.........it will be.
