Euthanasia Coaster - Should this be illegal?

That's essentially what lots of us used to build in Roller Coaster Tycoon, where there were contests to design the most puke-tastic coasters possible. Putting people into multiple fast loops was one of the best ways to do it, and apparently to kill them too.

I support medically assisted suicide. However, I don't like the idea of a euthanasia coaster. It doesn't seem dignified and is unnecessary.
 
Medically assisted suicide should be legal, though heavily regulated for obvious reasons. That coaster looks like a pretty badass way to go out, though it would probably be pretty painful.

That's part of why nobody talks about it. There's no written record that they were given too much morphine. Someone just transposes a couple of numbers or accidentally turns off the limiter. Accidents happen.
 
All drugs, especially the opiates, are rigorously monitored and recorded. Anyone acting in the way you describe should and would be prosecuted and fired.

Maybe some people don't want to die alone, even if it is by their own design.

The law could be worded to protect from abuses.

Why?

My grandmother died of cancer. She suffered to the last, which I guess is the Christian way to go. She died of cancer but realistically she died of morphine overdose, and I see nothing wrong with it. She had suffered terribly and in agonizing pain. Her final moments were more peaceful by comparison, at least from a pain perspective.

It is completely outrageous and uncompassionate to expect anyone suffering to just deal with it until the bitter end when clearly there is always another choice. Screw the bravado and the self-righteousness. This is life and death and it's sacred. People can treat their death however they want.
 
Any patient can have a good death, with legally prescribed medication, and without recourse to lies and murder. See my previous link to the allnurses website, where they discuss this.

I read it. The AMA will not own up and call that passive euthanasia. They call it pain management and patient comfort, even though the medications being given are knowingly exacerbating things like difficult breathing.

If I were dying of a terminal disease, the matter would be very simple. I would ask someone close to me to provide a cyanide pill. No one would have to know who gave it to me. I would not put my family through the wringer of watching me die a horrible and drawn out death. I love them too much for that.

If an animal can't be saved we have no problem putting it down. Yes it's emotional, but the fact remains. I have had pets who had to be put down, and I know it was the right thing to do. Why are humans forbidden from having the privilege of an honourable, self-directed death while still being in the presence of those they love?
