Re: Is Israel a Good Ally to the US?

    1. Security - Does our alliance with Israel help or hurt our security? If it does both, does the help outweigh the hurt?
Israel is a pariah state and by aligning ourselves with them, we make ourselves enemies of the entire Islamic world. 9/11 would not have happened if not for our support of Israel.

    2. Loyalty - Does Israel ever intentionally act against U.S. interests? If so, do the benefits of our alliance outweigh the consequences of those actions?
Does selling secrets to the Soviet Union in return for Jewish emigres count as acting against U.S interests?

    3. Cost - Do the benefits of our alliance outweigh the costs, financial and political, of this alliance?
No. What does Israel do for us in return for the billions we give them each year? Some would argue that they pump that money back into our economy by buying arms and create jobs by doing so. But just think of how else that money could be spent. We could be using it to repair our crumbling infrastructure or improve our education system. No, they simply are not worth it.

By the way, I'm no anti-Semite. I have nothing against American Jews, except the ones who blindly support Israel.

Israel is a very important ally, and a place where a lot of post-holocaust Jews went. I feel we need to protect this Jewish state because it means a lot to many Americans for religious and more direct purposes.

Well, wait a second, I thought you agreed with racial separation but you're going to accuse Israel of being an apartheid state? That's rich.

ROFL. I must have forgot that it was Israel that stopped the muslims from taking over Europe during the crusades.
    LOL!

Israel is a terrorist state that stole the land its country is built on and continues to murder and enslave the palestinian people to this day.
The country of Israel has been given to jews by God, there is not a nation "palestinian people", to 90 % they are arabic immigrants as weapon against Israel.

No matter who condemns them they throw the anti semitism card out bc its useful to them still. The only reason Israel has good technologies is because my tax dollars pay for it in the form of aid sent to them from the U.S.
    Not only you pay tax.

Did you ever been in Israel, I think after an journey you will change your mind. Only Arabs are terrorists in Israel.BTW what is your mind about the true apartheid for copts in Egypt?

Israel is also the only democratic state in the Mid-east, and actually needs our help. It will be a terrible day, if/when the Islamic states invade and once again do another Jewish genocide.

I do agree with Separation but don't do it by destroying an already established nation like Palestine was. Before you go and say that's what we did here in the U.S we didn't because the U.S at the time was not a nation but a country filled with different warring tribes of indians.

Yes, Israel is a good ally. They are a modern democracy in a region plagued by theocracies and terrorism. They oppose and combat terrorism along with us as well. Israel is a technologically advanced nation and we benefit from them economically. Israel is a good ally for the US and we should support them and their efforts to stamp out terrorism.

Make a case for keeping or ending our alliance with Israel. I tend to fall somewhere in the middle with a lean towards "ending".
I'll answer this earlier than I wanted to so XFactor can actually start addressing arguments instead of personally attacking other posters. I answered "Other" on the poll.

    1. It both helps and hurts. It hurts us because our alliance and unwavering support of Israel make it difficult for the U.S. make alliances with Arab states and increase support of Muslim terrorist organizations. It helps us because we have a democratic ally in the Middle East who has the same interest in spreading democracy. Also, it's just good to have a strong nuclear power in the Middle East. The way our alliance is structured now, the hurt outweighs the help. As a result, we need to restructure our alliance.

    2. Israel isn't particularly loyal with it's espionage and selling security equipment to China. In light of this, we need to restructure our alliance and not offer it so much political and financial support as it sends the signal that they can do whatever they want to us and we'll in turn give them whatever they want.

    3. Israel gets one of the highest aid packages, if not the highest, and it gets an excessive amount of political support from the U.S.. The cost would be worth it if Israel seemed intent on finding a solution to the Palestinian issue, but it doesn't, so I think the costs outweigh the benefits and they should be decreased to put pressure on Israel.

In short ,it's good and bad, but mostly bad as it is now. This can be changed by simply restructuring our relationship so that it benefits us more.
