What is the Primary Purpose of a Tax Code

I know, I know, some are going to complain that several of these things should be on the list... but what is the One Thing that should be central in our minds when we design a tax code - what is your highest value?

Yeah, but they do it through the government. The government takes our money and keeps giving it to the corporations who cause the messes. That's corporate capitalism for you. Ultimately, the government is the tool of theft.
