This isn't really the government's concern, it's a personal and private matter. But there's no real crime when it comes to prostitution, not innately. And the use of actual brothels and proper regulation can alleviate a lot of the crime which has grown up around prostitution.
Many womans forced to be prostitute, e.g. by Muslim gangs in Europa. All governments should prohibit any kind of prostitution because it is nothing as crime and filth. The predestination of a woman is to bear children, and not to sell hers body to everybody. It is a disgusting thing!

And imagine how much harder it would be to run illegal prostitution if you needed a licence. Patrons would choose the safe route, and go with the legal establishments. Even if the pimp is a crook, your regular john would prefer not to be.

that is sadly accurate. if you really want to go after mans' vices, perhaps the best way is to legalize them and then choke them with regulation and taxes.

Wait. The entire argument for wealth redistribution, taxing and spending on anything and everything, arises from the primarily liberal interpreation that the consitution affords unlimited power, including to tell you not to finger yourself.

Are you saying you disagree with the liberal position that the consitution supports that economically, but rejects it when it comes to sex laws? Because that would be contradictory. Liberatarians tend to support the position that the government shouldn't be much involved in *either*. It's at least self-consistent.

The human sex trade is indeed sickening. No one should be forced into it. Yet if one chooses, I think they should be allowed to do so. Prostitution in and of itself is not a crime, there's no victim. Now certainly there can be situations in which women are forced into it, illegal human trade and such. But that's a function of the illegal trade and the force put on women to accept certain rolls (maybe like having babies?). There should certainly be enough protection to guarantee that women do not have to be prostitutes. However, it should also be up to them to decide if they want to or not. If a woman enters it voluntarily, then there is no crime.

If "pro" is the opposite of "con," then isn't "prostitution" the opposite of "constitution"? And therefore unconstitutional?

And while we're on the subject, isn't "Congress" the opposite of "progress"?

And in all senses of the word "congress" has proven repeatedly that it is the opposite of "progress".

I'd leave it to the states to decide. Federal government has no place making such a decision.
