The GOP plan would fail because it ignores the root problem, the fact that the US has the highest medical care costs in the world.

actually the Republican plan would bring market pressure into the single entity most responsible for the increase in American medical costs, thus reducing the cost of healthcare in this country over time. When Medicare D, for example, did something very similar, it came in at 40% under estimates. That's impressive stuff.

I picked, Libertarian: End All Entitlements.

I have an idea for the short term (federal)…end all government medical benefits for the president, all members of the Senate and House of Representatives and Supreme Court Justices.

We've seen where the market pressure got us, the most expensive health care in the world. The most inefficient, wasteful parts of the of the Medicare program is the Medicare Advantage program that was turned over the the private insurers. Health care reform reduces future costs over 10 years by 500 billion mostly by taking that back into government administration. When we finally upgrade to a single payer system, heatlh care costs will go down further as they have in the rest of the first world nations. Until then, we will not risk pushing our elderly into poverty by reniging on our committment to them under the Constitution.
