Do you care?

Will you watch it?

No no no no. No one should care.
Who cares that 2 rich people are getting married...

I don't care and I'm not going to watch it. What spoiled brats do with other people's money doesn't concern me.

Is Prince getting married to Queen Latifah?

i sense an envy filled response here
what is it that causes you to describe the couple as "spoiled brats"

I don't care, but my wife cares immensely. There is a chance I will have to watch it against my will. Of course the lawn could use mowing too.

Now I don't care in as much that I don't know them personally. I don't have any envy as to their class status that is turning me off to the event.

I don't ency them. My response is that I believe it's wrong for them to live like they do at the taxpayers expense and essentially do nothing to merit it. I call them spoiled brats because they are.

I remember reading an online article about some anarchist saying that they were going to disrupt the wedding. I'm thinking to myself, that'd be great. All you would prove is that you are an asshole.

I hope this happens. I would support their actions 100%, dont really care if they come off as "assholes" they are just gonna do what people wish would happen and prove a very strong point.

well, there you have it. air tight proof that they are actually "brats"
no way could the green eyed monster be responsible for your unkind characterization [/sarcasm]

Are you going to debate or just accuse me of being jealous? I dislike them for their use of public funds and the fact that they are a drain to the UK taxpayers. It angers me that they suck up the funds of the public to live a lavish life simply for being born.

At least that one guy joined the Army for a bit. I'm sure he was protected, but he can't really control all that.

I have no interest whatsoever in 'the Royal Wedding' (why should I; The people concerned are not my friends, and I have never met them,) and I would rather be sold for medical experiments than watch the event on the idiot box.

However, the assumption that they are 'spoiled brats' is not substantiated at any level.

First off, Prince William at 29, is 12 years older than me, and nearly middle-aged, and Kate Middleton is not much younger, so they could hardly be described as 'brats' (i.e: children).

Secondly, William's father, Prince Charles, is one of the wealthiest men in Britain, and, as the Duke of Cornwall, is in receipt of the income from the Duchy of Cornwall, and a well managed estate that covers over 54,000 hectares. His offspring are not maintained by the British public, but by his private fortune.

The Civil List is received by the Monarch to pay for the maintenance of the Royal Palaces, The Guards, the Household Cavalry, travel and the entertaining of foreign dignitaries, etc. It is not used for Royal Weddings.

I would not swap places with William, or his brother. They have had a terrible life - torn between their mother and father - and everything they do or say appears in the tabloids. They may have a number of what we may consider privileges and luxuries, but they have no lives of their own.

I do not envy them one bit. I consider myself much more fortunate. I come from a middle class family who is comfortably off. I am getting a good education, and I will pursue a professional career of my own choosing when I complete my formal education. I will be free to love and marry who I choose, and nobody other than my immediate family and friends will make a judgement on my choice of partner. I am a metaphorical King compared to William and Harry.

So no, I will not be taking any interest in the Royal Wedding.

You do sound a little bitter about something that really doesn't effect Americans.
The British who support them seem to adore them so its their tax money.

We have the super rich here in America who through loopholes can avoid taxes and remotely live off money that belongs to the US government.

There is this "Star" worshipping of the Royal Family that we do also of our celebs and sports stars.
I know it isn't public funds but look how Bristol Palin has fared just being the daughter of one of those "Stars".

Thanks for all the info. It would make sense that such a family with all their influence would have a personal fortune...

I also agree. I wouldn't want their lives... the boys have had a difficult life, but William seems like a good guy so far.

You are wrong. The Royal Family brings in a significant profit to the Uk. In return for an annual stipend, every monarch since Geroge the III has voluntarily chosen to give up all profits from the royal lands they won. The monarchy gets paid 40 million pounds vs the 210 million pounds from crown lands that goes to the government. Net profit, 170 million pounds. That doesn't even get into the extra money the monarchy brings in as part of the 7 billion pound per year tourism to GB.

Thanks. I hear all these assumptions on both sides of the Atlantic, and I think people should know a few facts. One of which is that the House of Windsor basically receives the Civil List, which is currently set at £7.9 million per year. About 70 per cent of the Civil List expenditure goes on staff salaries. It also goes towards meeting the costs of official functions such as garden parties, receptions and official entertainment during State Visits. The Queen entertains almost 50,000 people each year. The Royal Household strives to be open and transparent, and details of expenditure are published in an Annual Summary and Annual Report.

Offsetting that, the revenue surplus received by the Treasury from the Crown Estates (traditional property of the Monarch) each year is something over £200 million. So the British nation enjoys a considerable financial gain from having The House of Windsor as a Monarchy. And this is before the tourism generated by having the only fully maintained Monarchy still extant in the world.

You are quite correct, but if you are referring to the Civil List, I understand it has been set at £7.9 million pounds annually, not £40 million. But there may be other (hidden) expenses associated with maintaining the Monarchy. :)

Paradoxically I don't care vehemently. I live in the Midlands and thousands of benefit/welfare claimants get married here every year, Im happy for them but these two are nothing special.

A ton of people in the UK that absolutly dislike the Royal Family. My step grandfather was from Whales and he tells me stories about how people disagree with the Royal Family and really do not care about them. Especially how the people of Britain provide for them, and now this garbo of a weeding.

So. A ton of people dislike Obama in America. That doesn't mean we need to wish harm upon him or his family. It really solves absolutely nothing to make some sort of idiotic statement through violence at a wedding. It just makes the position look weak and desperate.

LOL! And that's the view from Kansas, is it? Do you even know how the people of Britain allegedly provide for them? You might find a couple of the posts preceding this one instructive. The Civil List is set at £7.9 million per year - tell me; how much does it cost to maintain your President and the White House establishment?

I have grown up in the UK, and while I value the Westminster system of Constitutional Monarchy as a system of governance, I am fairly ambivalent about the Royal Family as people. But I have never, ever, met one person who admitted to strong personal dislike of any member of the Windsor family. Plenty of Brits are, like myself, indifferent about them, but I have not encountered active dislike. Unlike, I might add, many of the views published in the US of your successive Presidents - now there are examples of real dislike!

I never understood anyone's obsession with them other than people like to watch big lavish shows for no reason. With as much as the American media covers this stuff you would swear they're sad we have our independence. Me personally I don't mind having badasses wearing wigs, guys with wicked beards, and oh yeah a stoner that invented ducking electricity on our money. What do they have? Some old ladies?
