I was at two tea party demonstrations. Two people were carrying signs “No government health care!” I spoke to both as I saw they were about 70. Both claimed that the Medicare they liked and used was not a government health care insurance system. They couldn’t be convinced otherwise although a few other tea partyers also gently tried to disabuse them of their ignorance. So with tea partiers like this voting there is no telling who they voted for or why.

I know not all tea partyers are this misinformed, however I question the motivation and honesty of those.

Re: Who here thinks Tea Party people voted predominantly for Barack Hussein Obama?

The Tea Party is predominantly CONSERVATIVE, made up of about 60% Republicans and 40% otehr party affiliation, the largest of which are Independents. Democrats I believe made up around 10%.

While McCain was hardly a fiscal god, his senate record and rhetoric on the campaign trail was closer in line with what the Tea Party voters would've agreed with than Obama.

The Tea Party also is made up of Americans who have by and large, traditionally for the past 100 years, voted for one of the two major parties rather than voting for a third party candidate.

So it would stand to reason that the Tea Party would've predominantly voted for McCain rather than Obama in the election in 2008 had they voted for one of the two major parties, and if they had been open to third party votes would've likely voted for Bob Barr over Barack Obama.

So no, the Tea Party did not predominantly vote for Obama. That doesn't make them "republican" unless you suggest anyone that didn't vote for Obama is automatically part of the Republican Party.

Well of course they didn't. Barack Obama is black(halfways at least) and the Tea Party is racist. Or at least people are doing their damndest to paint them as racist. So if we say "No Tea Partiers voted for Obama" then we can draw the conclusion that the Tea Party is racist, because that is what we want them to be.

Jeez, anyone would think it's a two party system. It's not like they had much choice in the matter, they could vote for the party that supported none of their goals, vote for the party that supported some of their goals, or not vote at all, which, for them, would be no better than voting Democrat, and worse than voting Republican.

Lots of voters were holding there noses in 2008. I was one of them who chose to do that, rather than sit home.

I didnt vote for Senator Obama but I wasn't unhappy he won. I felt there was a good chance he could do for the Democrats what President Carter did for the Democrats. So far, so good.
