Re: Is the Tea Party racist?

The sweet little old folks of the Tea Parties seem to have a lot of extremism and bigotry bubbling up around them. Hmmmmmm. | Crooks and Liars

Watch the video. At around :13 the guy says that "America has the highest standard of living because it's populated by white people." Nothing racist about that at all...

I would have said other, but it was not offered as a choice. As a group, I would say no, but since a majority appear to also be birthers, one has to conclude that a majority of them are racist, or very stupid.

They were trying to attract all kinds of American at first. Their publicity shots showed minorities having a great time at a rally.

    It just didn't work.

the definition of bias is- Show prejudice for or against (someone or something) unfairly. And , Influence unfairly to invoke favoritism.

Say that IS an accusation of active discrimination, bigotry, or racism.

I don't think that as a group the Tea Party is racist.

However, I do think that they have a lot of racists as members. I also think that one reason why some Teabaggers oppose Obama is purely out of racist reasons.

But, as a whole, no, I don't think the Tea Party as an organization is racist.
Also, we need to legalize recreational drugs and prostitution.

Where did you get that definition from? Bias is a general form of favoritism - the definition usually doesn't include the word "unfair".

Actually, nonetheless, bias, prejudice and favoritism do not necessitate active discrimination, bigotry or racism. That's pretty obvious. For example, I may have bias for literate people but that doesn't mean that I actively discriminate against illiterate people, be blindly intolerant of them (bigotry) or think of them as inferior to literate people (some kind of ism). Similarly, the TP can be racially biased/favor wealthier whites without actively discriminating against blacks, be blindly intolerant of blacks or think of blacks as inferior. Study your definitions.

Bias does not equal active discrimination, bigotry or racism. If that were the case, we'd all be pretty horrible people since we all have biases.

If you're going to accuse me of failing, you might want to at least understand the definitions of the words you're using.

So birthers are necessarily racist now?

But the TP doesn't favor whites over blacks. Black conservatives are just as welcome as white conservatives. On the other hand, many liberals call black conservatives all kinds of names.
