sugar. salt is required, and studies have shown that there is no medical or scientific need to reduce salt intake if you do not have an underlying medical issue.

Welllll, I'm not going to Google it, but "it depends."

If you are a diabetic, sugar is poison.
If you have congestive heart failure, salt is poison.

If you're a healthy human being, either one in moderation is no problem.

Depends also on what kind of salt and sugar.

A lot of products have "sugar" but its really corn syrup, not too good for you. Organic cane sugar can be somewhat beneficial (not to mention tasty).

Iodized table salt is not very good for you either, but natural sea salt can be somewhat good for you.

The key in all this is quantity, too much of any salt and too much of any sugar can be bad for you.

    Just know your limit!

UC Davis News & Information :: New Evidence Shakes up Perceptions of Salt
The researchers evaluated 24-hour urinary sodium excretion, the standard measure of daily sodium intake, from 19,151 individuals collected in 62 previously published surveys from 33 countries worldwide. In contrast to the widely held notion that salt intake has reached extreme levels in Western societies, the analysis indicates that daily sodium intake across a wide range of “food environments” tracks within a relatively narrow range: 117 mmol–212 mmol (2,700–4,900 mg). In addition, previous studies provide supportive evidence that adult humans naturally seek this range of sodium intake.
...the current daily intake guidelines call for a maximum daily intake of 2,300 mg of sodium, the equivalent of one teaspoon of table salt. These recommendations are already 17 percent lower than the lowest level of worldwide sodium intake (2,700 mg) and 38 percent lower than the worldwide average sodium intake (3,700 mg).

With a Grain of Salt: Why You May Not Need to Limit Your Sodium Intake
"Cutting sodium by about 50 percent lowers blood pressure, which could lead to a reduction in cardiovascular disease," says Michael H. Alderman, MD, professor of epidemiology and population health at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York. "However, no clinical trials have ever been conducted to show that's the case."

In fact, some observational studies have found that a sodium intake of less than 2,300 milligrams a day has no effect on heart disease, and other research reveals that people who consume less salt are actually more likely to have heart attacks or strokes. "The theory that reducing sodium will make us healthier may be true, but it needs to be proved before we make widespread rec*ommendations," Dr. Alderman notes. Until more research is done, he says, there's no evidence that healthy women with normal blood pressure need to limit salt.

I use Nosalt and Splenda. Somehow I still get the impression I am slowly marching towards death.

Seriously, seriously, with these 2 delicious products available there's no reson to use the real. The doctor came in my room and looked at the ingredients of the Nosalt. Hewas assured it contained whatever is necessary from real salt.

I said, "Oh yeah, Dude, they got it in there!

I say neither. Now if they are taken in excess or if you have some sort of health problem then they can be bad for you.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

    Cicero Marcus Tullius
