Ha, most of the words have the ring to them. However, I am against it because I think it would do nothing to make the situation better for the people I know. For one thing, it would easily turn a lot of people off by appealing to political correctness. For another, you'll just have another word that will replace it with the same level of disdain. The whole field is about replacing terminology that is either no longer scientifically agreeable or appealing in character. The former makes sense, the last is a fruitless adventure.

    totally agree.
Nobody who wins a war indulges in a bifurcated definition of victory. War is a political act; victory and defeat have meaning only in political terms. A country incapable of achieving its political objectives at an acceptable cost is losing the war, regardless of battlefield events.

Bifurcating victory (e.g. winning militarily, losing politically) is a useful salve for defeated armies. The "stab in the back" narrative helped take the sting out of failure for German generals after WWI and their American counterparts after Vietnam.

All the same, it's nonsense. To paraphrase Vince Lombardi, show me a political loser, and I'll show you a loser.

Well of course you're right. I made an emotional response. They have a right to do what the want to protect their image.

Basketball's image is already destroyed. They don't use their own rules, superstars get away with everything, there was a major scandal with the refs and the mafia betting on the sport, fouls get called depending on what the score is. At first I thought basketball was real like wrestling, then I learning it's fake like boxing.

Depends on what kind of wrestling we're talkin bout.

The WWE is more real than basketball.

I'm just amused that you used the phrase "real like wrestling," that's all. And that boxing is fake. In my opinion it's the other way around.

when you have a playoff game where one team is charged with triple the number of fouls as the other, something ain't right. especially when the more heavily charged team is not known for playing dirty/rough. I stopped watching the NBA nearly 20 years ago. I watched a handful of games last year only because that was the only thing that they broadcast on AFN in Iraq.

Then it becomes a question of relative riggedness. Maybe it's just me, but Wrestling has a much greater reputation for being fake compared to boxing.
