I lost the name of my favorite composer when I transferred some songs of a dead ipod. I wish someone could help me identify them. =\

Can you describe the pieces or give some other information?

I like Holst. Copland, Gershwin, Wagner, Dvorak, Beethoven, Grainger - so many.

Its good background music.

I like Classical music, but I have to be in the right mood to listen to it. Either that or I have to be studying. By far in a way my favorite is Moonlight Sonata.

I love that piece too. Did you know he wrote that right after he found out he was going deaf?

Seriously, is there any way to maybe hum or sing a sample of a song and find it? Is there any website that does that?

My mom had great taste in opera and classical but I have no idea what were the songs.

Umm...4 Seasons Spring 1st movement would be a first guess, just because that tends to be Vivaldi's most well-known piece.

This may seem off topic a bit, but I would consider a couple of Jazz composers in the realm of American music. Duke Ellington and Eubie Blake come to mind.

Incidentally. Speaking of Gershwin, did you know his compositon "Rhapsody In Blue" was originally commissioned for the Paul Whiteman Orchestra?
