Re: Should Congress Ban Burning of the Quran

I'm lobbying congress to ban the burning of "The Western Garden Book".

I just don't know what I'd be capable of if somebody were to do that, and it is obvious that such actions should be criminalized because I have so little self control.

You can't burn a Koran becuse there is a liklyhood that people might get hurt.

    It's really the same.
Its really not. The yelling FIRE when you know there is not one in a crowded theater is very likely to cause an immediete reaction that could cause other people harm anytime its done.

Burning a Quran in public is unlikely to cause any kind of immediete reaction that could cause other people harm anytime its done.

I could walk outside, light a match, burn a Quran, and come back inside. Technically I'd be burning a Quran in Public. There would be maybe 5 or 6 people that would see it, unlikely that any of them are Muslim. The chances of it having any way of being found out about by an extremist muslim is slim to none. And even then it would still have to be an extremist muslim that would actually cat on it. On top of all that, it would be some deal of time and forethought on the part of the Muslim who finally acted, rather than a reactionary response that would be what you'd find in a theater.

They're not anywhere the same. Its idoitic to even suggest it.

My god, gardener may kill someone if that book is burned.

Well, there MIGHT be harm done to someoen if its burned. We better have congress ban burning it now.

No, and it has already been explained to you why when you brought it up earlier. Seriously, if you're going to endlessly moan on about the same tripe, the least you could do is read and acknowledge the responses

If you're gonna use that analogy, please get it right: You can't yell FIRE in a crowded theater WHEN THERE IS NO FIRE. If there WAS a fire, and you knew about it, people'd want you to tell them, may want to hold you responsible if nobody finds out in time and gets injured / killed. :P

They're not really threatening us. They're just reacting to someone yelling fire in a theater.
This is the way they are. Is it really so important that we make them more like us? Why can't we just refrain from insulting them to the point of violence?
No it's not. Yelling fire when no fire is present can cause people to get hurt or killed. Now if a fire does exist, you can yell it all you want.

They are not the same thing.

It would be nice if it was, but not all governments have matured to that point yet.
