Hmmm...

A good question.

I've had my fair share of times where I've had no sleep, but ironically due to drinking.

Drinking has the opposite effect on me then it does other people, especially when I was drinking heavily.

Heavy, prolonged drinking had me going to bed at 3AM and waking up at 8AM ready to go (with a headache but energetic and not able to get back to sleep).

So when I was drinking alot I'd stay up sometimes for a couple of days at most.

about 75 hours

don't do that at home kids

This is a fact. I only sleep about 4 hours a night. Been that way for a couple of years. I do business overseas and I am always availible. You will notice I am on here most the time. I have gotten used to it. There has been times that I have been up 3 days plus. Not that long ago actually. People are amazed but I can't help it. I always joke that there is plenty of time to rest when I die.
I had a friend once say to me "hey you have a lot in common with Einstien. He only slept about four hours a night." I said that is about the only thing I have in common with him. He said "No, He was a crap speller too"

I have gone many days after only getting an hour or two of sleep before having to go on watch or just start my day. Even did some 30+ hour days just because I couldn't get to sleep.

But the one day I remember the most, I had the morning watch, 0630-1130. We were also pulling into Australia that day, and I had duty. My duty day meant 2 6 hour watches, 1330-1930 and 0130-0730, and I had to paint some areas in my workspace. My duty watches were in 1 plant but my workspace is 2 plant, which meant that I had to paint inbetween my watches. On top of this, I was the duty section leader for my division that day too, which means I had to make sure everyone else got their assignments done as well as my own work. I went the entire duty day without sleep. Then, since we were in Australia, the first time for me, I didn't want to miss out, so I got off the ship after I getting relieved from watch and dressed in civvies and went out with some of my friends for the day. I ended up falling asleep in one of the bars we went to that night around 9 or 10 surrounded by alcohol (of which, I only actually drank maybe one drink). The pic from that was priceless. Everyone swears I must have been drunk. In total, I was up about 39 or 40 hours til I finally got to sleep at all. And even that sleep got interrupted after less than an hour to move to another bar.

Stamina and longevity are not my strong traits (maybe why im single ;)) and this includes sleep. 38ish hours is about the max I have ever remained awake and Im pretty useless after about 18 hours of no sleep.

Eight days, before I was checked into the hospital. I keep a supply of tranquilizers on hand now and knock myself out whenever I pass three.

bennies did a job on me
no more wanna go sleepy
now I get to spread the news
that I aint got no sleep to lose

Funny I saw this now. I got a few hours of sleep this morning after nearly 4 days without sleep, and thanks to this thread I just figured out why.

Among other things I have PTSD and the 6th anniversary of the event that caused it, was yesterday at 12:02 AM. And no this is no April fools joke.

54 hours. I was working as a regional airline pilot and a grociery store clerk. I had to work at the store because my wages at the regional airline totaled $17,000 for the year. Hope you feel safe on them there RJ's ;). The only people that are willing to do that are straight out of college and don't have the experience to do anything else.

Probably about 36 hours, but I have averaged 4-5 hours of sleep per night for about 20 years or more. Used to be a chronic insomniac, but now I'm just used to functioning on very little sleep.

holy **** what were you doing awake for eight days? Or was it like really really bad insomnia?

52 hours... did it a long time ago and never, ever want to do it again. I'm a wuss and cherish what little sleep I get.

60 hours, but I normally am up for 18 or 19 hours a day. I am use to little sleep. No coffee either.

Probably around 30 hours, I can't say up more than that before passing out.

I've actually been up 23 hours straight right now, and I soon am about to pass out

About 27-28 hours...

Ran a 24-hour ultra-marathon a few years ago... got up about 2 hours before the race to eat a rather large breakfast and prepare for the race, then 24 hours non-stop running and then back to the hotel for a shower and sleep...

I could never pull more than a 24-28 or so hour fest. Sometimes while writing, I would have a pot of coffee in one hand, and the keyboard by the other, but I would have to do so standing up, walking around before putting out that next footnote. I always wished I could have written better while being exhausted or could stand to be up that long.

I voted tiger blood, but my record is about 4 1/2 days. But it was my first time at burning man, and was 19. So you figure it out

I hallucinated from lack of sleep. Walls would take on patterns like snakeskin. People would slowly change shapes. I had no sense of distance and couldn't pick things up. This was at the rehab hospital after my hip replacement. And I wasn't on steroids. Restoril sleeping pills brought me an hour a night of sleep. They really wanted me out of the hospital so I could go home. No more insomnia.

I do remember being afraid of falling asleep. Like something bad would happen. Or maybe something terrifying.

68 hours, completing a thirty day upkeep in two weeks, including emergency maintenance on a failed MSW pump and such like.

The days preceding that were typically less than 2 hours of sleep a day, since the nice young ladies in the bars of Subic Bay were active little wenches.

Mayor Snorkum was a heck of a lot younger then.
