68 hours, completing a thirty day upkeep in two weeks, including emergency maintenance on a failed MSW pump and such like.

The days preceding that were typically less than 2 hours of sleep a day, since the nice young ladies in the bars of Subic Bay were active little wenches.

Mayor Snorkum was a heck of a lot younger then.
That's a lot of awakeness. I seriously wonder if a lack of sleep causes memory problems. It was either that or the anestisia keeping me from remembering where I put the damn keys.

My wife used to go weeks without sleeping a wink. All that snoring was just for show. But, every morning I'd hear, "I didn't sleep a wink." I think people who claim really long periods are actually doing a lot of napping in there. There's a difference between not going to bed and not sleeping.

I worked 29 hours straight once and then I told my boss that I could keep my eyes open but my brain had shut down.

Slightly under 48 hours. I've had to take red-eye flights for work a couple times, and I can't sleep on planes.

The worst was when I got sent to Germany for training purposes. I took a red-eye that left Detroit about 5 PM and got into Frankfurt at 7 AM. Then had to take a train to Stuttgart, pick up a rental car, and drive about 20 miles to Abstatt, all after being up for about 20 hours and in a country where I only barely spoke the language. Then I had to go into the office and put in a full 8 hours work. Not fun.

holy **** what were you doing awake for eight days? Or was it like really really bad insomnia?

I'm not well. I have manic episodes with uncontrollable anxiety and paranoia. They're still trying to find something that helps, but I've reacted very badly to most of the medicines they've tried.

72 hours over here in Afghanistan.

Probably 60 something hours. . . I had to complete a chainmaille project.

Prick only paid me 1/10 the original agreed-on pay.

One of my longer records was when I had to be tested for sleep Apnea. I couldn't sleep wearing the monitor, I tried 3 nights in a row.

Although I stay up for 30-50 hours regularly during certain parts of a quarter, depending on workload (writing for and doing layout on a news paper, being a full-time student and a freelance writer along with a relationship doesn't leave much time for sleep).

Ask me after my day of classes today. I haven't slept in ages.

Do you do those any more and if so, are you interested in selling some? PM me. :)

Oh man! I think lack of sleep can cause problem memory loss. I seriously would get an Rx for Restoril and use it to make you sleep. It's not something to push.

Is there really a Camp Leatherneck? I would guess soldiering is the worst job for getting sleep. But that's not good for your health. Hope you are home soon.

So you've tried Xanax I suppose. Valium? Don't live with it. Insist on getting fixed.

3.33 days (80 hours to be exact) when my first child was born. woke up one morning and my wife went into labor late that night so we went to the hospital. We were sent home around 3:30am (still in labor, but they said it'd take awhile) so we went home and she couldn't sleep due to labor pains. I stayed with her of course. Went back around 5:00pm the next day - baby was delivered 2:00am. Wife had complications and went into surgery - so I of course still didn't sleep (how could I?) and she came out of it just fine. She got some sleep that morning, but we had visitors in the hospital which I entertained (they actually came into the room JUST as I was setting down for sleep!) That night our new-born just would not sleep. So I took her out of the room so my wife could sleep and I spent that night awake in the visitor's room trying to sooth our baby. It wasn't until the next afternoon that I got a quick 4 hours of sleep...

It was all worth it. If my wife can go through 9 months of pregnancy and 2 days of labor, I think I ought to put up with 80 hours of no sleep without complaint. :)

Nope - sure don't. Not that I don't love it or do it sometimes on my downtime - it's just so time consuming. But plenty of other people do!

The Ring Lord Chainmail Chain Mail Maille Supplies is a great hub for maillers - lots of sellers at the forum and John (head of the company) makes maille for movies and businesses on a professional scale. Ess in Chains is great and so is Enchantress - fabulous work. As well as Silverweaver (.com) - all three of these people have crafted and sold my designs at some point in the past - some might still do so. I think Emerald Dragon, SacredChao and Triskillion make some fab work, too.

There's also www.mailleartians.org is a good connection spot, too.

Thanks for the links, Aunt Spiker. I remember awhile back you'd posted pics of your handiwork. Very beautiful. :)

thank you! I miss having all the time I use to for crafting. I really fell in love with some time-consuming things like corsets and such.

It's hard to say... I have gone a few weeks on little sleep, maybe a few hours of sleep and trying to sleep. I had bad insomnia before, and I remember, especially when I would bend over to pick something up, my ears would start to ring or I'd hear a buzzing all the time. :(

You make chainmaille? That's cool. I had a friend and he did that. He made it out of wire hangers...

Nearly three days when I was in my 20's. It wasn't pretty. :coffeepap

5 days during Desert Storm with no drugs or caffiene, just a carton of Pall Mall ultra lites. I did go 9 days without sleeping one semester in college. I had goofed off all semester and my grades were crap. I knew if I aced all my finals that I could come out with a "B" in every class. thanks to some high quality speed, I was able to cram for 9 days. Aced the exams, made it back to my dorm room, passed the **** out and woke up 3 days later. I highly do not recommend it.

I've never gone 2 full days without sleeping, but I've gone one night without sleeping on several occasions . . . which I guess would put me at about 38 hrs without sleeping, assuming I woke up at about 7 am and went to bed around 9 pm two nights later.

I think even that is absolutely miserable.

You took speed.. damn. Whenever I stayed up to cram for a final it went bad. I'd get frustrated on the test, and feel like slumping over and passing out. I could never think straight when I tried that, but I never tried speed. Once I did take a diet pill and I am really skinny. That scared my mom...

I took the last hit about 2 hours before my last exam. lasted me through the exam and until I got back to the dorm. I was planning on driving home for christmas break and decided to take a short nap. I crashed and slept for 3 days. I was damn near dehydrated and had pissed the bed probably a dozen times. never did that **** again. scared the hell outta me, I could very easily have died.
