If you had to pick one or the other, which one is more important?

Good luck getting a straight answer from any conservatives here. I've asked this question before, and most of them resent the whole premise of government paying for the services it provides.

But all they have to do is say which one is the most favorable option.... lol

A balanced budget.

Overall I dont mind government spending as long as it is done effectively. A balanced budget helps ensure that it is spent effectively as the revenues required for the spending is collected immediately. It is far less likely voters are going to vote for higher taxes for poorly spent money

As bad as our politicians are, at least we have a law that they must balance the budget.I have no doubt that we would owe many trillions of dollars otherwise.

A balanced budget but that does not mean we need to be over taxed. Spending needs to come under control. The problem now is that Obamacare will make this impossible.

Balanced budget.
Lower taxes are useless if we end up so deep in debt we have to devalue the dollar to get out of it.

Are we talking state level or federal level??

The out of control spending by Obama and the democrats is doing that not tax cuts.

Tax cuts and shoot the bastards who spend more than last year's revenue.

The issue is too much spending, not too little taxes.

A government that could not run debt would cause societal collapse. I'm sure mayor snorkum may find anarchists that agree with him.

Where were you during the last decade? You do realize that the start of the "out of control spending" was under a Republican congress and White House right?

history is a lie pete!

You can do both, you know.

Balance the budget by cutting some taxes AND (my oh my) reducing spending significantly.

But we can't have that bit of common sense - no indeed we cannot! That is just too logical!

The reason why we have such an egregious imbalance is because they chose ot cut taxes here and there but only increased spending exponentially (even Clinton did *gasp*)

LOL yea guess we can start with those still living from the Reagan years and then continue with those from Bush 2 administration.. wonder if they can find Cheney... hmmz.

That's not automatic. Absolutely no reason the government can't exist using the revenues from the previous year. Especially this government, when 75% of the budget is unlawful and wrong.

Its both. Even if you were preparared to go along with ending both our wars immediately and cutting our military spending in half, and cutting the waste and fraud from our social safety net programs, it still wouldn't be enough without the discontinuing the tax cuts the wealthy have enjoyed for the last 30 years.

No, doing the right thing is a violation of the leftist agenda.

"Both" wars? The United States now has three wars to contend with.

However, since military spending is constituitonal, it's last on the list of what should be cut from the US budget.

Not one "socialist safety net" program passes constituitonal muster and 100% of them should be axed.

And Mayor Snorkum sees your envy of the wealthy who pay far far more in taxes than you do.

No.

Tip O'Neill was a Democrat. All the socialist programs are Democrat inventions, and all of them violate the Constitution and should not therefore exist in this country.

I've never heard of this national government that does not run debt thing... since... governments were hoarding gold and issuing trade monopolies...

75% of the budget is unlawful? Someone call the supreme court!
