I currently live in Illinois, and it seems to be fairly steady around $3.60-3.70 roughly, but as I drove down to Florida for spring break I noticed that the farther south we got the cheaper it was, up to 25-35 cents actually. It also catches me striking that in Illinois E-85 is basically the same price as regular gasoline, not much cheaper at all. However, for instance in Iowa when I was there a few months ago I noticed it was significantly cheaper than it was in Illinois, something like 80-90 cents cheaper if I recall correctly? Its ironic since Illinois is the second highest corn producing state.

It's like 3.30 a gallon here. I hope it stays below 4$ atleast this summer.

It is $3.50 here in Eastern Washington state.
I see it over $4 a gallon easily by Memorial Weekend.

Gas should rise to $10 a gallon...

That is a bit extreme. Of course you buy liter , right? What is your price now?
The price is 6.15 dollars per gallon in New Zealand. I don't think kiwis would be very happy if the price increased to 10 dollars.

In September I will presume the gas price is around 4.0 dollars from today's average of 3.5 dollars.

It's around $3.50-$3.60 in my area.

As an aside, I never liked the idea of using corn ethanol as fuel.

I’m fairly sure that there are other plants you could make fuels out of that don’t have anywhere near the food potential corn does.

And possibly that would produce fuel more efficiently.

Edit: And it may be wishful thinking, but I went with the lowest price on the poll.

I don't think the poll goes low enough. It will obviously vary by region, but on average I think it will be about $3.

We're paying $3.50 a gallon right now on average.

My dad farms quite a few acres of corn, and I must say, although E85 benefits farmers like my dad immensely, it isn't nearly as beneficial to everyone else as people thought it would be. This is causing food cost to rise like crazy, especially in the beef market. To top things off, E85 isn't much cheaper, and even if you're saving 20-50 cents lets say, you're losing it in gas mileage, as it isn't better than pure gasoline. Unfortunately, the amount of money invested in ethanol, and ethanol plants will allow it to be around for years to come.

3.35 here this morning.

No gas pumps out here. Here I though we were in the ME for oil.

It's $4.07 here right now, but California always has more expensive gas because of the additives and additional processing the morons in Sacramento require. It'll probably hit $4.50, then start dropping again.

The near-perfect solution would be to find a different plant that:

  • Produces more total fuel per acre, at higher quality.
  • Costs less to grow/process.
  • Is not a food source (for humans or food animals).
  • Can be grown in the same areas that corn grows.
Of course, this might cut the amount of corn being produced, but hopefully (mainly because of the acre efficiency) without the impact on the food prices you speak of.

Now, to find that plant…

Smack dab in the middle of the U.S. (Kansas) the price of gas hit $3.67/gallon. I filled up my van today and it took $94.00 to fill it up.

Yeah. Not going to be able to afford that for long. Too bad everything is so spread out here, otherwise I'd freakin' walk to work. :?

I live in northern Alabama and the price is $3:49-$3:69

$3.659 (3.66, really, who do they think they're kidding? Oh, look, you have to pay 1/10th of a cent less than 3.66..../facepalm) in my area on Monday when I got some...

It is about $1.07/liter right now (converted from NT$ against a relatively weak US$ right now) in Taiwan... Actually not nearly as expensive as most of our neighbors...

$3.68/gallon as of yesterday. Every seven days it goes up. Funny.... if/when it drops, it'll drop by two whole cents... but when it goes up?? It goes up by 10+ cents at a shot. Bastards.

I wonder how the hell people who make minimum wage are going to make it since these gas prices keep going up and up? I make a lot more than minimum wage, and I'm feeling the pinch of trying to get my happy ass back and forth to work.
