I bought a 2 year old Durango for half price in 2001 and have had it for 10 years.
I have never had a problem with it other than regular maintenance.
Why would I have spent $40,000 for the truck when I could get it for $20,000 slightly used?

I don't think car dealers are inherently evil, either. But I would never ever ever buy a used car from a used car lot. I'll buy one from a dealer. They have their reputation on the line in many more ways than a used car lot. A dealer is highly unlikely to sell a car they know have problems. But they can sure do it by accident. Buyer beware.

I was talking about buying a used car from a new car store, as they usually have the newest used cars. Generally speaking a used car store gets auction cars and who knows where they are from.
You should always have a used car checked out by someone who knows cars, if you yourself are not knowledgable, which you should be.
Don't sell short your feelings either. If you get a bad feeling about acertain car, walk away. It is always best.
Carfax only lists title transfers so if somebody bought it to resell, it probably wouldn't show up. If there was a very short time owner, you should get a hold of that person and see why.
